Clearly the fault will be those obstructionist democrats who don't control anything... yet.

This is how it works every time. Repubs gain control keep control till people are like wait a minute and then the whole thing crashes when the dems take control. Its almost as if they are doing it on purpose.

At any rate I am prepared this time around. I will be down to virtually no debt (mortgage only) and 1 years worth of living in high interest savings. Im not gonna get played this time. When it does crash and burn I will be in a position to buy like the ownership class just on a smaller level.

More and more companies are issuing warnings of possible layoffs, closings and price increases as retaliatory tariffs start to come into effect. Should Trump move ahead with tariffs on car manufacturers you could see hundreds of thousands of layoffs as a result.

Hopefully someone can finally grab him by the collar and shake some sense into him but so far no one has been able to. I'm not one who puts much blame/credit to a President on the overall economy or GDP but what Trump is demonstrating is just how a president can impact it and do so very negatively.
You realize that Trump can end any tariff with a phone call? It's part of his negotiation hardball tactic, which is part of something that previous presidents lacked - balls.

This is the same man who emerged from a historic Kim Jong Un meeting with zero tangible guarantees, and now appears to have been utterly ineffective (North Korea is known to be creating more nuclear weapon fuel). There's no "negotiation hardball tactic" here, it's simplistic protectionism that naively assumes other countries will play along.

Hey why not. What’s a few million jobs wiped out as a bargaining chip. I mean it’s not kids but it’s something right?

What you feeble minded Trump fluffers fail to see is the man hasn’t negotiated a fucking thing since he took office. Nothing. The GOP can’t even negotiate with themselves. Negotiations require two sides. Trump is about to learn a very valuable lesson if he continues. Other countries find him a joke and they all know he caves at the first sign things aren’t going his way.

But at least it’s not him with anything to lose in the process right? Just millions of working class suckers.

Growth Trump's first year 2.3%
Growth Obama's first year 2.9%

So far Trump's job growth numbers not that much different then Obama. Anyone who reads past OP's talking points and Trump bloviating would realize "greatest recovery in the history of the country" is pretty much like most of what Trump spews

Job growth and wage growth have been slower than Obama's last couple of years too.

We should see a dramatic pickup of growth in this most recent quarter though as the GOP has been engaging in absolutely massive fiscal stimulus. It will likely lead to long term lower growth than we would have had otherwise but it's not like Republicans ever gave a shit about fiscal responsibility.

It takes an Obama t build a good economy.

It takes a Trump to inherit a good thing and fuck it up, which he is well on his way.

Let's just say you're right. Let's just say this is some sort of "negotiating tactic".
We've pissed off our closest allies at this point. They mock us, laugh at us, and as every day goes by, want less and less to do with us. There are 194 other countries in the world. At this point, we are quickly becoming the last country our allies and former trade partners will want to work with. We've bullied them. Nobody runs back to the bully for help. They run to friends and empathetic people (countries) that will work with them. We're isolating ourselves from the rest of the world, and that simply does_not_work.

Wait, so how much is a canadian dollar worth vs US dollar? 1.33:1? Yup. 33% more. That's exactly why we can demand that other countries end their BS tariffs on our goods. It's an eye for an eye now. Have you read how much many of these countries are charging us for certain goods? It's horseshit. When we retaliate, all of a sudden they're "pissed" and "bullied"? Are you serious? Grow some balls like the Donald and stand up for your money or don't stand up at all.

A Canadian dollar is worth about 33% LESS than a US dollar you crazy idiot. Way to destroy your own argument.

Odds you admit you were wrong and change your mind? Maybe 1-2%. We're still waiting on you to admit your own source for global warming 'data tampering' owned you, after all.

The problem now is obvious, that the rest of the world considers the US under Trump to be completely untrustworthy and unable to make credible commitments. What value would you place on a deal you signed with Trump? It's not worth the paper it's written on. Because of that there's no reason to give concessions to the US even if they wanted to, which they don't.

Also, nobody else seems to have mentioned that Trump's justifications for his trade actions are almost entirely things that the other countries aren't even doing. lol. You can't give a concession on something you never did to begin with.
