WTF?!? 100Mhz lost

Hello guys,

I own a Duron800. i unlocked the sucker but after i while i descided to lock it (i wanna sell my combo soon so it looks none oced
I have COMPELETLY cleaned the duron800 with alcohol and water (it's clean like hell). Anyway now it misses 100Mhz and boots on 700mhz. What's the reason. I tried reflasing the BIOS no go, also tried resetting the BIOS still no go

Hmm - it appears that when OC'ed, you had it at 7.5x137 right?
So non OC'ed, that Duron should be set to 8x100. At some settings the ABIT mobos do not accept half step multipliers so a 7.5 multiplier will default to either 7 or 8 for 700 or 800 MHz. Whats's your multiplier at?

i cleaned the cpu (including the pencil stipes on the L1). So no matter what it should set it on 800mhz (but it sets it to 700mhz). How in heavens earth is this possible?

So, in the BIOS, under CPU speed, do you set it to 800 or do you select user define and manually set it to 8x10?

Also, have you checked what the CPU core says?

check the bios and make sure that the multiplier settings are not user defined. let it auto detect

the next possibility could be that that some of the bridges are still connected. you might want to check that. use a magnifying glass to look closely at the bridges

also try resetting the cmos

Another possibility might be that you simply have a 700Mhz Duron

Why not just manually reconnect the necessary bridges and hardlock it at 8 X 100?

Man i just want my CPU to work as normal. Why the Fudge is he acting like this it shouldn't be doing 700mhz. When i bought it it worked on 800mhz

Damn cpu is driving me also crazy by al those freezes
I have drawn my conclusion next CPU will be Intel again aleast they won't mixed up

You know the funny part AMD has a marketshare of 20% yet if you look at the Newsgroups/Forums 80% of the problems are VIA/AMD related how funny

maybe your CPU WAS 800 but you OC'ed it so much that now it's just tired and it only wants to do 700. My car aint what it used to be when it had 20K miles cus I beat the crap out of it.

Clear all the CMOS data and recheck all the settings in the BIOS. If that doesn't work I'd bet you have partially fried the thing. It is possible to fry it just enough to make OCing and default speeds not work, but if you underclock it it will work fine. I did that with my Voodoo 3 once.
