Biff,
might be a hot deal for those that need a no frills web browsing box... and to see the $249 you need to click on "Recommended Systems" first. The $250 is after a $100 rebate as well
basically for $250 you get:
1. dell case w/ power supply
2. craptastic motherboard
3. Celeron 2.4 128k cache
4. 128mb DDR ECC PC2700
5. 48x CDROM
6. 40gb HD
7. craptastic integrated video card
for about the same price I'd rather get a Dell AXIM PDA

Appears to be true. 256MB DDR, ECC, 400MHz, 2x128MB option shown here, which does not indicate ineligibility for $100 Mail-In Rebate. System price remains $499.00, less the $150.00 instant savings.Originally posted by: biffbacon

but the 256mb memory is not the upgrade in question... i dont think... there is another memory upgrade option that states that it invalidates the MIR

Ah. As at 11:30am the $100 MIR is now gone. 2.8 P4 is now a 'free' upgrade (effectively $99 like it was with the $100 rebate gone). So you can get the faster processor and 2x128mB ecc ram for $399. Not as hot as it was....
