WTF - BF2 1.12 patch TOTALLY caught me off-guard

I figured the expansion pack would be the upgrade - but this patch totally caught me off guard! - LOL to all the whiners and moaners who constantly cry foul to DICE any anybody unlucky enough to get near them. Hopefully this will shut them up, common lets be serious for a second if a game is great but not perfect to your standards you can't throw a tantrum - read -> there a like a million registered names or something and they make it for the masses not for YOU.

damn 230 megs, what's it fix? There's a small list of fixes and stuff, but half of it tailors to BF2:SF grr.

I scanned through the fixes and it only seems to patch BF2:SF, but im not sure like i said i only glanced over it. Can someone clear this up for me?

First, the patch was released because there were problems with BF2:SF before the title even hit the shelves. If you read the fix list, there are a ton of fixes for Special Forces, and the darn thing was JUST RELEASED!

Second, I don't recall seeing a very extensive list of BF2 fixes at all. In fact, I think there were like four or five, none of which addressed the most serious bugs that people are complaining about such as poor netcode, blue/red issues, Audigy 2 issues, etc.

Third, even IF the patch fixed all of these problems (which it didn't), it's 6+ months after the intial release! ASSUMING these problems were fixed, people paid for a good game HALF A YEAR AGO.

So get off your high horse. People have a very legitimate right to be pissed about BF2... even the online press has commented on the poor "stability" of the game.

BF2 was, by and large, one of the worse releases quality-wise since Daikatana. Having good gamplay, which it does, does not excuse it from meeting basic quality expectations.

Sorry, you're the idiot. I played Unreal 2003 and 2004 a LOT and I didn't have one single problem with them. The same goes for HL2, CSS, and a slew of other games. I've NEVER had as much trouble (or heard of others having as much trouble) as with BF2.

If you think BF2 only has 2 bugs and that's all people are complaining about, you have your head about two feet up your ass. Even the "mainstream" gaming press doesn't shy away from acknowledging the problems and relatively (when compared to other titles) widespread discontent with the shape in which BF2 was released.

Open your eyes. Do you see a rectum?

Ok ok... BF2 had a lot of bugs, and yes other games have been released w/ a lot of problems. HL2 had a very rocky release, but those problems were resolved quickly. The thing w/ BF2 is that the same bugs that were present in the original release and have yet to be fixed 3-4 patches later. Games have bugs, but it's taking too long for this game to run right.

Hell I am a TOOL - they call me THE HUMAN POWERDRILL!

I'll be the first one to admit it has FLAWS but I deal with it - I downright HATE the server browser with its dissapearing lists that require restarting the game. But I deal with it BECAUSE the gameplay IS so worth it and I deal with the drops from the servers. The game and gameplay is GREAT even with the problems - no game is perfect or even near perfect. Lets face it BF2 would be such a big deal if it wasn't a great game.

OH >>> AND BF2 SF would had to have started being made for worldwide release a long time ago to get the volume needed for massive distribution. ThHAT SHOWS that DICE hasn't been putting their thumbs up their butts since then. OR did you FORGET abot that?

Sounds seem different for helicopter missiles so I think it patches BF2 regular as well. I've never had any trouble with any BF2 version besides stuttering but that was fixed by getting 2 GB of RAM, and it's not really a bug.

My understanding is that the main purpose of this patch is to allow those with the exapnsion and those with the regular game to play on the same server together. Since we'll all be playing using this patch, once all the ranked servers get this update installed, it will affect all BF2 players. However, the intention of this patch was not to change any of the things that folks playing BF2 have been complaining about; it was to allow the folks with the SF expansion to join servers that are populated by those without the expansion.

How the patch will affect gameplay is still being "evaluated".

I helped out in a tech support forum and I never heard anyone cry like you are crying now. In fact, those 2 cosmetic bugs aside, the main thing anyone complained about was how awfully high the requirements were for awards. That was fixed in a patch. I don't have any idea what you are whining about, the game works perfectly fine aside from 2(one ultra-rare) cosmetic bugs. In fact, I'm going to go patch it and enjoy a little bit of fun.
