WTF Detonator3 drivers + Gladiac Geforce2 GTS = POOF!! NO Video

Hey guys, help figure this out please. I think I somehow FRIED my 1-week old card although I'm not over-clocking anything. I just installed the Detonator3 drivers from this Link: http://www.nvidia.com/Products.nsf/htmlmedia/detonator3.html
Then Windows ME will not recognize my video card as a Gladiac Geforce2 GTS 32meg. It shows up now as a VGA adapter and tries to install the proper drivers on boot up. Over and over and over. No matter how I install the drivers (original and new) Windows will not detect it properly. I reinstalled Windows twice and even installed the card in another computer. No dice. My card looks dead. Any ideas?? Please help.

Did you try selecting "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now" and installing the drivers from the Det3 directory? (make a folder and just extract the contents of the into it and place in at the root of your C drive). I'd also download the zip instead of the exe.

Yep.. tried that and more. I formated the hard drive before installing Windows again. The card will not even take the original drivers that came with the card even if i put it in another computer. It just seems dead in any mode other than VGA.:frown:

Go into safe mode, delete the VGA adapter and install the video card from there.

I honestly didn't think it would work but I tried away. This is what happened...
1 Entered Safemode
2 Deleted Video devices
3 Set Color/Res to 16/640x480
4 Reboot in to Windows
5 Went to Add New Hrdware/add video card/pointed to drivers
6 Card installed!! (Before it said no Gladiac Devices Found)
7 Set Color/Res to 16/640x480
8 Reboot
9 Set Color/Res to 16 million/1024x768
10 Changes took effect within Windows and looks good.
11 Reboot
12 Everything is back to normal!!

What happened? When I first installed this video card I had no such trouble. It seems that Formating the hard drive, reinstalling windows, then the standard card drivers would have worked. Instead Windows would boot back to a blank screen and my monitor power light was flashing (no signial). It's like the D3 drivers forced the video card into a mode it didn't like and it retained it even after I formated the hard drive.

thats win Me. It doesn't think anyone can install a correct driver so it runs you around sometimes while trying to put its own driver in. I had to fight with mine a bit to until i figured out how to trick it.

I know what you mean Windows is not the brightest bulb on the tree. Most of the time you must remove all preveous drivers before you even take your old card out and install vga then restart and make sure there are no instances of old drivers left. then shut down change cards and don't let win find drivers make sure you tell it what drivers to install good luck.
