Actually, the movie did a pretty good job of showing what a douchebag Steve could be at times. It showed him cheating on his girlfriend, cheating Woz out of money, not taking responsibility for his stoner love child, parking in handicapped spots, randomly firing people who disagreed with him....

The reality is he took advantage of the opportunities that life presented, played his cards right, and did quite well. I always wonder if I would have been able to follow my daddy's footsteps if I had been born into a Hollywood family or otherwise motivated differently due to my parents' upbringing. Luck of the draw! Could have been born in any number of hellholes around the world. I'll take it.

I'm not. Someone posted that the movie was rather fair in that the movie shows the dickhead side of jobs. So I'm wondering if that's why the viewer rating is rather low...

Saw Josh Gad or Gak or whatever on Leno tonight. He gave a hell of an interview, very funny, and seemed to do a very good job in the clip they played. The clip certainly didn't glorify Jobs; it was basically Woz telling Jobs that while HE was still living the dream of building cool toys for people like them, Jobs' view was all about the product and selling it. Job's world started and ended with Jobs, and it was a very small world. I wasn't impressed with Kutcher's acting in the clip and I usually like him - but then, I've never seen him in a drama.

I think it goes hand in hand with the creativity.
If other people are building your dream, you have to be a hard ass to get it done right.
The film will no doubt do a lot better on DVD than in theater.

Yeah, Einstein was a complete asshole, Da Vinci too. They were eating kittens in their free time.

Seriously, generalizing people is the worst thing you can do, because it's never true for all of them. You can compare specific person to another specific person, but to think of them as of an archetype based on a single (or a few) traits is a myth built upon a few characteristics of a certain person and that fails to grasp personality of other people pigeonholing them in the process. I hate such stereotypes. I didn't know Jobs personally, but to me, he sounds like a dictator, another Napoleon.
