I'm sorry to hear that, I also agree with Kim, the kid probably needs a kick in his pants but he also probably needs a big hug and some positive attention to go along with it.
yes, he needs both. He lives with his mom, who has a boyfriend and doesnt pay much attention to him. In fact, neighbors have told my brother, the boy's father, that he stays out til 10 or 11 pm every night. She is a horrible parent, but he is no better. He is permanently disabled(medical malpractice) and has no real home. He bounces between my parents(he is 34, i believe) and his girlfriend. He is just as attention starved as his son. For example, he does not work, but refuses to get rid of his $500 a month expedition(which i am convinced my dad pays for) and he is constantly screaming in pain when people are around, but if you sneak up on him, he will be hardly in any, as you can judge by his movements.
Honestly, i have never trusted the kid. He has always been one you had to keep your eye on. For example, my parents do everything for him, but he is still attention starved. On mothers day, my brother(not his father) and I watched him line up a soccer ball and kick it directly and my dad's flower pots, breaking a few of them. We both stood in amazement, knowing that he had done it on purpose.
Oh well, such is life.
