It is a vary dangerous job though so I think the best of the best do deserve that money.
What bothers me is when bureaucrats are making more money than someone in the private sector doing the same job. There's so many here in Ontario making over $100,000 for jobs that might pay half that on average, if you're lucky, out in the real world. There were subway ticket collectors in Toronto making that! They claim that's because of overtime but I'd sure like to see what overtime rates they get!! Plus they get benefits to die for. The government then has the gall to raise my taxes to pay for those s.o.b's salaries while cutting back on my services. Oh sorry, they can't pick up my garbage every week but at least the bureaucrats are all getting nice raises.

I'm saying that those who complain about teachers salaries and most government salaries, I agree there ARE some that are way overinflated though, are conservative. It's the same conservative yammering you hear time and again, my hard earned money going to pay their salaries, blah blah blah blah blah blah...
Really? Most describe me as pretty far to the right and I see no problem in public servants getting paid well for what they do. I'm not saying that my views represent every conservative...just that I've never heard that before.

I guess it depends on how you define yourself as conservative. What values do you hold that you think are conservative? I think I also thought you were to the right of the political spectrum but I can't remember exactly why.
Course most in the states would consider my a communist/socialist or something so take that for what it's worth.
no I'm not jealous, there are some of us who don't want to get ripped off, try to fight for things right and see how poor and inefficient things are done.
Is it right for a city worker who probably embezzled money from a city to still receive a 500k pension? Yes I'm questioning why a city worker is paid 1/2 a million dollars a year as pension. No I'm not jealous and would not want 500k if it meant stealing from the public.

I believe in small government. I believe in limiting government and its spending. I believe that Washington needs to be gutted and have all the feces thrown out. I think that killing babies is wrong. I believe we all have the right to defend ourselves. I believe in "eye for an eye" style justice. I believe that our great country is in danger of failing if we keep letting the government grow and keep taxing the citizens more.

Apparently these are the times when jealousy rears its ugly head.
I've heard stories of cops and firefighters making ~150-200k after all the OT. It seems pretty crazy especially how their pensions are determined and us taxpayers have to foot the bill.

Maybe it's cause our (or his) taxes pay for the inefficiency? Not sure about you, but I prefer paying less, not more for something.

Teachers don't make enough in the US. Where I'm from, the starting salary for a teacher is $34k.
