Some people, movies, TV will get nominated purely on the hype. The Sopranos after Season 1, for instance.
Your idiocy is confirmed. Sopranos Rocks!

Everyone I've talked to agrees with me--the show has continuously gone downhill since season 1. It's more of a family drama then about mob life the past few seasons.
Of course everybody you talk too agrees with you, you only associate with other geeks/nerds/nancy boys like yourself.

The Sopranos isn't even the best show on HBO, nevermind TV. Hell, Rome is better than the Sopranos.
Well at least according to a ***** like you.

Now now, no need for insults. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
LOL, I actually posted those stars, I didn't try to post a censored word.

Wow, this thread went downhill...

U2 is a band that has devolved into a caricature of itself, and are probably no longer capable of putting out really good music. It's sad, because back in the day they they were outstanding. IMO, they represent a microcosm of the music industry as a whole as it is today, where appearance is valued more than substance.

Well, I might have agreed had I not heard Bono's acceptance speeches. Unbeknownst to me, "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" refers to him dealing with the aftermath of his father's death. I think they still have some artistic merit. Even if they don't, I'd rather them have continued success than their competitors, since they at least do something useful with their fame.

Yes, especially since it was by far the best album of the year.

And I say this as someone who is not a fan of rap or hip-hop or RnB, or anything of the sort.

Well at least SOAD beat Robert Plant in best Hard Rock category. WTF is Robert Plant doing in that category.

And too bad Shadow's Fall lost to Slipknot in Best Metal. I chalk this up to Slipknot getting some actual radio time, while Shadow's Fall has been all word of mouth.

even music reviewers are going down in teh dumps.....I heard the new Graham Coxon song thr other day....all the industry was saying it was awsome. I heard the song....it SUCKED! For a guy that really praises indy rock, he sure isn't indie anymore.
Graham, do your self a favor and get back in Blur.

All about the money. There is no use arguing over who won because they ALL suck. I looked through the nominations just now and the only decent thing on there in any category was the Gorillaz album. Sad too, because there was a LOT of good music put out last year.

indie FTW!

I kind of like some of the stuff in the alternative category. Maybe that's just me.

Okay I just looked at that (didn't see it in the list I saw) and there is some good stuff. Funeral is amazing and should have got album of the year imo, the Beck album is good, and I haven't given the White Stripes one a listen. I don't like Death Cab (although I did like The Photo Album) or Franz Ferdinand though.

mmeh these old rockers don't seem to have any inspiration left. but their fans are loyal, and thats what matters like sting with his prodigious output of cr@p.

they should stick to playing their hits. their newer albums always just suck.

Homer: Oh, why wont anyone give me an award?
Lisa: You won a grammy!
Homer: I mean an award that's worth winning...

I wouldn't say that HTDAAB was bad, it was pretty good, but not really album of the year material, Achtung definately was. Half off the album is great, middle is somewhat slow. Then again, the grammy's pretty much just pick what's in. Can't believe "The Forgotten Arm" didn't get nominated for it's music (it won best packaging woooo). By the way, "Pop" rocks.

The "Album of the Year" award does not care about black people.

Nooo! I don't like any of their albums following Zooropa, but c'mon, didn't Zooropa grow on you? It was such a departure for them back then. Still sounds great.

<---big fan of all that pre-dates Pop. Pop and all to follow is aka garbage.

If you want to talk about overrated, take a look at the "Best Alternative Music Album" category. Explain to me how that garbage white stripes album (I like the first, this one was absolute tripe) beat out Funeral, Guero, Plans, and You Could Have It So Much Better.

QFT
The White Stripes are awesome, but that album had ONE good song (Blue Orchid). Guero and You Could Have it So Much Better weren't anything to write home about either, especially when Beck's remix album [Guerolito] was better IMO, and the first Franz Ferdinand album killed this one, "Do You Want To?" was just an annoying song.

Shut yo' mouth. I really like that album. Zooropa, Stay, Lemon and Numb are all great songs. Plus The Wanderer introduced me to the infinite coolness of the Man in Black. Not long after getting Zooropa, I picked up American Recordings and have been stuck with the Cash bug ever since.

Pop was probably the weakest, but even that is better than anything Mariah puts out. The Playboy Mansion is even more relevant today than it was when the album was released. I heard a rumor that U2 was going to re-release a tweaked version sometime in the future because they feel that the album wasn't nearly as good as it could have been if they had more time to work on it.
