Within the past two weeks my college has had two (2) bomb threats and classes in those and surrounding buildings were all cancelled. I just found out that there was a shooting in one of the dorms just a couple of minutes ago.

One complete side of campus is locked down with cops, I just had a cop with a loaded shotgun walk into my class and tell us to stay put.

GOD, this is awesome.

That's what I thought when I saw that...though it appears to be only one guy. I wish there was a timestamp on the pics though so that we would know if they occurred in between the shootings or during/after the second shooting.

Would help explain how this shooter managed to make his way across campus.

There still isn't an official report here everyone is reporting different "facts" . No point in speculating.

why? because if concealed carry was allowed on the campus this might be an entirely different story? it has a lot to do with it especially since the issue was voted on and was denied and how happy the school president was??

he is not saying everybody. all that is needed is for the possiblity that somebody will have a firearm - it is called deterrence and has kept this and the world safe from nuclear wars since the devices were invented, only 1 example (x2 bombs) were needed to show that we don't wnat to use that power on anybody or have it used on us. the same thing with said gunner - if he is at a school there is little chance anybody will have a weapon that is on equal ground with a firearm, so he has free reign. if there was the knowledge that other people may have a firearm, said shooter would possibly rethink his decision. if he still go along with it, there is a good chance somebody will at the training required to get a ccw permit will drop him, or at least wound him before others are taken out like with no thought of an encounter.

My argument goes like this - if a few people have guns, then anyone who wants to protect themselves has to get a gun. Martial arts or boxing training, pepper spray, even good self awareness and street knowledge are no longer enough.

If I was forced to move to America the very *first* thing I would do is get a gun - if I didn't, then any one of you gun dudes could kill me any time you choose, just for being foreign or looking at you the wrong way.

But I don't want a gun. I don't want to shoot anyone. Why would I want to live in that society? I want less guns. Even here where the act of carrying a loaded handgun on the street will get you 5 years in jail there are too many. I can't imaging what's it's like in the American south where everyone and his brother has one.
