It is NOT awesome. I was in McBryde hall this morning for class, and when I got out, there were police with guns drawn hiding behind an ambulance. I went out the other door, and a police SUV pulled up and a girl got out, holding her stomach, bleeding and got into a waiting ambulance... that's when I decided I was leaving campus. Turns out I was in the building next door to where the second shooting was.

Most definitely not awesome.

LOL, oh my god, please explain how everyone involved having a weapon in this instance would have resulted in *less* shootings? Seems to me that a bunch of jumpy students with firearms might well have turned the whole thing into a massacre. Or are you suggesting it's ok for more people to get shot as long as one of them is the guy who started it?

I guy got stabbed on my school bus once (high school) and it really made us feel differently about the fights and confrontations that regularly went on.

Yeah. it was. I was on campus when morva was here, but i didn't get freaked out like this. it's amazing how much actually SEEING the aftermath makes it really hit home. i was actually shaking when i was running to my car... i drove the complete wrong way, just to get off campus, then i circled back and came home a different way.

they're driving by my apartment playing an announcement on a loudspeaker "this is an emergency. seek shelter indoors and stay away from windows."

A recent case-in-point involves the man who shot six people -- murdering three of them -- on the campus of the Appalachian School Of Law (ASL) in Grundy, Virginia.

In mid-January, a disgruntled student at ASL, Peter Odighizuwa, opened fire on campus wounding three people and murdering three others -- the school's Dean, a law professor and a student. As reported in The Charlotte Observer newspaper (1/18/2002), two men who helped bring the murderer under control were ASL students Mikael Gross and Tracy Bridges... both were armed...

Not going with either side here, but the fact that students who were in no immediate danger paniced and jumped out windows, would make me wonder what they would do if they all had loaded guns.
