You've never been anywhere in your entire life that someone has been killed within 5 minutes of you? Your first reaction was to barricade yourself in your house???

On a side note, I went to class on september 11th after watching both towers fall from accross the river in Newark.

2 killed in the dorms.
31 in the Engineering Building.
Refuse to confirm whether or not the shootings were linked.

Just go ahead and add yourself to your asshat list, and then take it to a different thread.

What exactly are you trying to prove here? It seems like you're just eating up the attention. Get this through your head, you're not a badass, you're not a higher point of authority, and you deserve no more respect because of your duties in the army.

Stop it.

lol, what are you talking about? Read what I type carefully. I was the first person to mention that it was a shame that concealed carry isn't allowed on the campus. Someone later posted that people should keep politics out of this thread including the pro or anti gun debate.

My reply at that point was that I was just posting my initial feeling, and then I got attacked because of that reply. And now I'm sure someone will post some nonsense about this reply.

When did I ever ask for respect because of what I do? I don't need any respect from you or whoever. And when did I ever talk about how badass I am? lol

I laugh at the sick actions a desire for profit can cause.

This isn't any worse than the movie spinoffs of 9/11.

Uh, yes they can. At least sections of a larger city.

On a campus they are responsible for their students safety.

Where did you read this? Everyone at the school is an adult and responsible for themselves.

You are a complete moron if you think that having a murderer running around isn't enough to cancel classes.

Well I guess that I am a complete moron.

You are insulting morons.

Well, I have to get back to studying (how insignificant that seems in light of something like thise), so I will just try to clarify my point. People always like to play the blame game in cases like this, which oftentimes is unfair as no one can predict or anticipate such a thing. I'm just trying to make a counterpoint and hopefully get people to understand that yes in theory any threat would be easily handled, but things just don't work out that way. I wasn't just trying to argue as that's trivial at this point in time.

My condolences to everyone involved or affected by this tragedy. As a fellow student, nay, human being, it pains me to see something so horrendous. I hope all our VT ATers are safe and unharmed, as well as their friends and loved ones.

I got too sickened to continue watching CNN news. They went up bitching about how communication wasn't adequate on campus because they didn't have PA systems and sent out emails to the mass 20,000 students instead.

What retards at CNN. Show me one university that has a campus-wide PA system covering 2600 acres of land.

This is what strikes me about the argument that they should have shut down the whole school. I don't know how they could realistically have gotten the message out in a sufficiently quick and thorough way that it would have worked. I went to Madison (an even larger school), and there is no way in hell the school could effectively be shut down, and the students told not to come to school, within an hour or two.

Except United 93 gave all their profits to charity or something like that. That was a very good movie!

To answer a previous question, we have classes that begin as early as 8AM and I think there are a few that start at 8PM or something.

Well duh, of course a division of Public Safety is responsible for responding to all emergencies, suspicious activities, crimes, security concerns, and parking and transportation challenges. That's the entire point of having a division of Public Safety.

However, is the University legally responsible (sp?) for going above and beyond to protect their student's safety in the state of Virginia?

Do you guys think its two seperate shootings? I mean, a domestic incident of passion does not turn into chaining doors at Norris Hall and such, it seems too planned.

Here's my question. After the first shooting where two people were shot/killed in the dorm, why wasn't the entire campus locked down if the suspect was not in custody and not just the dorm? How do you go on business as usual with two murdered people on your campus?

It just seems odd to me. I know we're talking 20-20 here, but still...

Yeah unless we find out later that the school did something totally retarded we cant really blame them. How do you stop thousands of kids from going to school. The only way you could do it would be calling all of them which is impossible. The email is a good effort but not everyone checks their email in the morning. The PSA is a good thing but also difficult to reach every corner of campus. Add to the fact that you are talking about a college campus where its a bunch of kids who are used to not listening to warnings, thinking they are invincible, and are very curious and its a situation thats very hard to handle.

I agree that this would be difficult.

Mass e-mail to ALL students and RAs? Call CNN ASAP?

have the confirmed that is really was only one? I also find it hard to believe that only one guy could do this much killing in that amount of time. I mean as soon as the first shooting was reported that place must have been swarmed with cops and its not like VT doesnt have security anywhere on campus. I would think that they would have found the guy pretty fast but i guess not.
