Nikki Giovanni, the professor who read that poem, wanted Cho to leave her class. She even confronted him and would have even resigned if he did not leave the class. The number of students in her class dropped from 70 to 7 because the students were afraid of Cho's behavior.

Some of my friends are hyperactive and rarely sit still, but the hours they waited just seemed like a few minutes. Many of the people I talked to said that they really needed that it was just raw emotion comming out. She was not grandstanding....its just the way her personality is, and the way she speaks. It was an immediate standing ovation from everyone, wich only her and President Steager received.

With HIPPA you CANNOT force someone to get counseling or get medical information about them. This is not Minority Report where people are jailed when they are determined to commit crimes in the future. The moral fabric of society will have to change for something like this to be truely prevented. If every loner who sat in front of their computer/tv playing video games with few local friends and human interaction were jailed, probably 1/2 of AT forum users would be gone.....not to metion every other computing forum, Xbox live, etc

This guy had to be a real creep.. I've read countless news stories talking about the gunman's roommates and their interaction with him. None? Could you imagine living with someone that never spoke to you and didn't allow you to get to know them? I would not have let this go on.. I would have been left with no choice but to move and find other roommates. I wouldn't have been able to sleep at night not knowing the type of people I was living with. Also, one of the guys he lived with said he had been up all night studying for an Exam Sunday night, and Monday morning he noticed the gunman getting up around 5:30am to get ready. Could you imagine how that kid feels later seeing what unfolds that day? I'm speechless..

Yeah it definitely is hard to grasp the emotion and the atmosphere over the TV. I'm sure it was a much different setting being there in person and also being a VT student going through this ordeal. She comes across as a very passionate/energetic teacher from what I've seen.

The news crews were outside his house in Centreville yesterday interviewing his parent's neighbors. It's probably 1 mile from where I work. They even said the girl from Centreville who he killed lived less than a mile from him.

If she does a lot of performance poetry, her actions don't seem inappropriate at all. Nothing more than a visual display of the emotions conveyed in her poem. pretty typical if you've seen any performance poetry prior to this. (ooo how 'bout that alliteration? )

I see someone who's most definitely very angry and upset and appears totally crazy, but it doesn't fill me with rage and hate personally. I guess each person feels differently about it. On the picture with his glasses on (the most popular one) he looks unbelievably upset you can see it seething behind the glasses seemingly. I feel ambivalent about it but not rage filled.

I do feel that the media is overdoing this by about 500% though, and I think the woman (who was a girl at the time of the Columbine who was there when it happened) said it best in the interview with Meredith Viera in NBC this morning -- that not nearly enough space is being given the the victims and the school so that they can grieve and have time to assimilate what happened. The media following people relentlessly here in the USA -- in times tragedy is highly disturbing from my perspective.

In cases like this it would be nice if people like this could be locked up forever....but how do you know???? It would be nice if we had the gizmos they had in Minority Report. (wishful thinking if we were in a perfect society)

HIPPA concerns patient rights. They can't prevent someone from being forced into counseling. Only once he becomes a patient, does HIPPA apply. I can't imagine that based on the prior reports to the police and University from Giovanni and others concerning Cho, that there is no precendent that prevents the School from ordering him until counseling or face expulsion if he was perceived as a legitimate threat.

Roy, who taught Cho one-on-one after removing him from Giovanni's class, recalled Cho exhibiting a palpable anger and secretly taking photographs of other students while holding the camera under his desk.

This guy was seriously messed up on so many levels...

For me it's the #4 link under Watch Video (4. Slain student's father speaks (9:45)). Streaming video is blocked at work and my PC doesn't have an audio cable anyway.
