And you're hopeless.

Gun owners care about their rights 24/7.

People like you only care about guns for the week or two surrounding a tragedy like this.

When will you admit your anti-gun rants are an exercise in futility?

Besides, 32 lives is a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things. It's a horrible tragedy, but things will be back to normal by May.

Well, STEAM can easily confirm if Cho played CS at that time. I doubt it. It would take me at least two hours to go home, take all sorts of glamour shots and vids, save it to some sort of media, pack it, address it, grab my guns and ammo, get in car, drive back to campus, stopping at a mailbox along the way assuming I already had correct postage, drop the parcel off, and then get to campus, park, carry guns and chains, and finally go on a shooting rampage.

I would say he was pretty efficient with his time.

BS, it's obvious to anyone who isn't biased.

Doesn't having an opinion one way or another make EVERYONE biased?

Point is that your statement is just plain dumb. That's along the lines of saying "if you put copy-protection in music and software, piracy will be a fraction of what it is today". People will still find away to get the job done, whether it's by finding foreign-made guns, or using another weapon.

I think the gun right bickering bullsh\t here is useless after the fact that the tragedy has happened. If US has 200 million guns and the system is really THAT out of hand, than US will be like iraq but a hundred times worse.

I think schools and workplace should learn an important lesson from this tragedy is that they should focus more on the mental health of people, detect suspicious symptoms earlier and resolve it before things get out of hand

Cho Sent Material to NBC Between First and Second Shootings, Network Tells Authorities

msnbc.com, nytimes.com

Yeah, just saw that too. It appears that NBC News sent the info to authorities immediately

NBC just said they're gonna show what was in the package (they made copies) tonight on the NBC nightly news. 6:30PM

How could they have made copies if they sent them to the authorities "immediately".

This makes NBC News look like they will stop at nothing, least of all human decency, to get ratings.

That would make sense, since TV is about ratings.

What is indecent about showing the killer's final words?

I would honestly like to know what he said prior to committing this unimaginable act.

Cause that's precisely what the killer would have wanted. It is human nature to be curious as to what was on that tape, but is it really that much more newsworthy to air it instead of just describing it?

I'd rather have my news unfiltered. A human describing something is a filter. Raw video footage isn't.

And you're surprised? We're talking about a media (NBC, Fox, CBS, ABS... all of 'em) that are all up in people's face just hours after the murders with cameras in their face... not even giving people a chance to grieve or compose themselves. Talking with family members the same day/day after the murders putting their faces all over the TV.

Don't act so shocked.

There are pictures of him pointing a gun to his head and a knife to his throat. He should have done us a favor and off himself.

Schizophrenia?
What then leads you to believe Cho had schizophrenia?

How he related to his roommate was just too bizarre to be depression. The bizarre content of his plays ? mashing a half-eaten ?banana bar? in someone?s mouth, the hypersexual, nihilistic (death obsessed) obsessions in the absence of depressive guilt or tearfulness are another clue. The progressive decline of a period of years. Those with schizophrenia, especially in their earliest years, are not readily recognizable as such ? their condition is evolving. But here was someone who, as early as 2005, was carrying himself so strangely that he was a spectacle. The depressed withdraw and disappear. Those who are so peculiar in their manner so as to be inappropriate (taking cell phone pictures of his teacher, speaking inaudibly, pulling a cap low over his eyes) exhibit signs and symptoms more indicative of schizophrenia. He was communicating in a rambling manner reflective of what we appreciate as autistic thinking ? characteristic of schizophrenia. In a similar vein, Mr. Cho?s stilted communication in his homicide note (deceitful charlatans ? not the language of a 23-year-old college kid) is also the manner of a schizophrenic?s communications, as is his pronounced delay in responding to questions.

NY Times has pictures of the campus and layout of Norris Hall and Ambler Johnston Hall.

Actually I've been thinking about it and he could possibly have been schizophrenia. He certainly was delusional, and certainly fits the diagnosis according to the DSM-IV...However he could have been a psychotic depressive as well. We'll never really know....that mental health stay is a clue but obviously this man was seriously disturbed and apparently very very psychotic when the attacks took place.

The psychiatrist (Dr. Welner is chairman of the Forensic Panel, a national forensic science practice. An associate professor of psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine) made a strong case for concluding that Cho was not psychotic at the time of the 30 person massacre. Read it through (there are 4 online pages, and at the end he makes the case that Cho wasn't psychotic when he executed his carefully planned massacre).
