Sweet was great, disco sucked, and I was there too. I remember in HS how everyone basically hated disco except a few songs here and there. There were "Disco Sucks" bumper stickers on quite a few lockers.....courtesy of the local rock station. We all listened to Journey, Styx, Foreigner, The Cars, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen....the list is endless. I don't even remember many disco artists except people like Donna Summer.

Disco was where it was AT if you danced. Not too many boys were into the dancing scene. The ones that did were AWESOME!

I generally like music all the way around except for the new stuff.

70s had some weird stuff such as this:

And a twisted version. (too much Fight Club there guy!)

Ironically those stickers on things got my curiosity going and yes I touched everything that I was NOT supposed to!

Where I lived there were not many girls that were into the dancing scene either, in fact I don't even remember the topic coming up. I guess it had to do with location. We were in a little town on the outskirts of a large city and there just were not any dancing places except for Country that really only got big in the 80s. Very few people ventured into Houston for the evening back then. That seemed to become more common once we were in college and home for the weekend.

Have you ever seen the movie Dazed and Confused?? That is basically what my high school days were like....in TX too. We all hung out at the boat dock (park) in my neighborhood in large groups on the weekends, just like in the movie.

Yeah, definitely a variety of tastes from ABBA to Led Zeppelin. The problem with disco is that they overdid it, and put disco to almost all kinds of music, including childrens songs.

Actually Abba is the only thing that can be considered disco that I really liked then and still do today although they were really more Pop/Rock with a danceable beat...they were not really disco.

I still have a few D.R.E.A.D. cards (Detroit Rockers Engaged in the Abolition of Disco)

The code of conduct:
I will never wear platform shoes
I will never wear Zodiac jewelry
I will never listen to disco records
Three piece suits are extremely suspect

Disco was bad ass, few albums can come close to touching the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

HAHA...I love it. I don't remember anything that extreme but that could be because we basically ignored disco. You did not see platform shoes at my school. In fact the most common shoe worn by the guys outside of tennis shoes were something like this:

So you are saying you are a big Bee Gees fan? They were most of the soundtrack. The Bee Gees were OK but disco still pretty much sucked and the clothes people wore that went dancing were simply awful.

I like the BeeGee's, and I like Disco as a whole. Walter Murphy's 5th of Beethoven is another great Disco song. Infact I'm listening to Do The Hustle right now, music doesn't get much better than this. Disco at it's high point was untouchable. I would always take some BeeGee's over any Rock music from the same period.

Yes, we've now progressed to fine quality programs, such as American Idol.
