Feedback aside, some people would pay that... if you do a search you will find opened boxes running upwards of $1500 and you'll find another one ending for ~$2500 for a new and sealed copy.

From what I've read, most of the value is derived from the cd-key. It loses a lot of its value if the key is used.

doubtful. Collector editions only sold on launch and were limited in the amount that were shipped.

the orig collectord ED pet was not tied to the CD key in the way the new ones are. IE its not auto looted to you. you had to enter they key at a vendor to receive the pet which is why you were able to sell the pet separately

Wow I have the original and BC collector's edition at home with all of the stuff that came with it. I had no idea this kind of thing would sell for so much.

I figured it was the pet, I read that somewhere. Basically I bought a regular copy of SC2 and a collectors edition since I was a big SC1 fan. But then I thought to myself if it was just a gimmick to sell more copies and that they are essentially worthless over time so I looked up WoW and here we are. I don't imagine SC2 CE will become just as valuable but I'm comforted by the fact that I might get a decent return on it some years from now.

I only played WoW for a year when it was released but I do not recall the pet was tradable in any way... it was tied to account the cd-key was used for.

humm maybe I'm thinking about the orig blizzcon pet. New pets arent given from a quest they are just mailed to you. Quest would be fun

BTW how much was the WoW CE at launch? At $100 and based of the closing price of the ebay listing I posted[before fees] that's a 26 fold return over 6 years.

I think it was around $85. Funny thing is I got the pet and had him out for about a week and then never really pull him out the bag. I wish I never use my pet I don't play any more. My box is in mint condition.
