WTH is up w/UPS? You have to agree to a disclaimer before they show you package status?

Right under where you enter your pkg number(s) you'll see a disclaimer box. Unless you check the box to signify that you agree w/all UPSs terms and conditions, you aren't allowed access to your packages' status.

WUWT? When did that start? Why are they doing this? Well, the obvious answer is "to cover thier collective butts"...but WHY?

The old way allowed you to directly link to tracking information. UPS has now blocked that access and limited only to resellers that subscribe to UPS online services.

I was tracking a package once, and called the local center, and asked if I could pick it up there. The manager asked how I knew it had arrived I told him I looked on the internet. This came as a big surprise to him as he said that information should not be available. I also waited one day for a package and to my surprise it never came. It showed the driver could not deliver due to bad weather (or something like it) I called and asked why ? and told them My driveway was clear, the manager resent the driver (who was not happy) back. All this was due to me using the information against them. I am sure other people have done the same, this is most likely the reason for the disclaimer now.
