Well this is nothing new along the lines of IM clients. AIM is always trying make itself incompatible with trillian.
I personally like MSM... It has alot of neat features, and the hotmail intergration rocks.

I personally use ICQ (old-school) for most of my messenging needs ... MSN is second

With the latest beta of Trillian pro, they are using the newer Microsoft protocol. Trillian, at least in its pro form, will be fine when MSN updates the protocol. Free versions may not fare so well, unless they talk with Microsoft about it.
Doesn't Trillian use Microsoft and AOL servers? Don't they do this without displaying the ads that the servers' respective owners want displayed on their IM clients? Doesn't this deprive the rightful owners of money?
I do wonder how much the IM servers do cost the companies for maintenance and general usage.
