WW2 Online 2010, anyone playing?

I played this game like 10 years ago. Graphics were ehhh then, shooting enemies took a second to register. maps were huge

has anyone played the game since they overhauled everything?

Funny I talked about that game as one of my worst purchases in my gaming history just last week on a podcast. I looked at the website and it doesn't seem much has changed. I think there is a free trial. So why not load it up if you interested.

I did enjoy the game back then...I wonder how it is now?

Holy shit they updated the game (or made a new version)? I was so pumped for the game to come out like 10 years ago. It wasn't anything great as I remember but not terrible. I'll have to check this out; I thought it was a different and possibly good idea for a game.

yeah the original game was crappppppppp. i however like the epic WW2 concept

I remember playing a trial for this and thinking the graphics were somethign right out of Quake I. The idea was cool but the graphics + implementation was garbage.

The problem was they kept expanding the map whilst the player count dwindled. When the game first released there was plenty of people for hours of fun. The map was very small with a ton of people in it.

LOL. I played that game on release. What a squirrelly ass game it was.

It was alright but part of that was because they postponed the monthly fee for quite a while. Had I been paying monthly for it I would have expected more.

Played while it was free. Great concept but without some way of scaling terrain per current user base most of the game was finding the other side.

Well, they are currently in beta for a graphics overhaul (and likely more). That should draw a good number of people back/to the game.

Having played everything but a bomber and ships, the game is all about realism (as much as is possible for a MP game). It doesn't even pretend to be a area style shooter (eg, BF2/COD). It's a niche game, love it or hate it.

The shortage of players does bring the game down a lot. The large scale battles with lots of players is a blast (assuming you know how to play the game) but they are not that common. Several small scale battles with a few people are the norm and this can lead to sitting around for a hour waiting for something to happen but nothing does. Teamwork is also the ultimate weapon in the game which is seldom used.

It had its moments. There were definitely some rough times in that game though, but the ability to team up with friends in a single vehicle and have some fun was a good experience.

It was unfortunately just another rushed job that never lived up to its potential. A small development house and no real resources hurt too.

Maybe one day we'll get an actual MMO type WWII game, probably from someone and something along the lines of Call of Duty and on a smaller scale, instead of a large map like the one in WWIIonline that led to far too much boredom, we might see something more generated and the battles less random.

We'll see, for what it was and still is, it was a worthy experiment in MMOs before the genre went over to WoW clones.

Yes, I reupped my subscription a few weeks ago. 1.31 is still a ways off but when you play the beta (yes everyone who subscribes can play), the new changes will be incredible.

It is still one of the best games I've ever played and will play, it really is right now though pre- 1.31 still a love it or hate it type of game.


The game just recently went to 1 Attack Order (AO) per side when the population is really low, this heightens activity in certain areas even during low times, but it is still a controversial change.

I'm thinking when the release of 1.31 hits there will be a slew of re-subscribers and hopefully some new ones!!
