Landmark? GPS + iPhone Geotagging? Direct upload to Flickr with 3G?

I'm guessing:

1. 3G iPhone (duh)
2. 13" MacBook upgraded to LED + Multi-touch

To throw some other guesses out there:

1. Mac Mini (where the heck has our update been for the last couple years??)
2. New Cinema displays (LED backlit? Built-in webcam? A more useful monitor stand?)

The rumor sites are talking a lot about a MBP redesign, but that it may not happen until later in the summer. I dunno about that one - I mean, what else would they add?. I wouldn't be too surprised if they released a mid-range Mac Pro, maybe Shuttle-style, given all of the new competition from the Hackintosh scene and commercial ventures like PhyStar or whatever it's called. There have also been rumors of a bigger iPhone, which sounds interesting. I've also read about a new version of .Mac called "Mobile Me" and apparently Apple bought the Me.com website. I like their features, even though they're overpriced, because my wife can use it really easily. Their website is dirt-slow though!

Here is what I'd really like to see:

1. 3G iPhone + GPS + 32gb option + Tethering software
2. Mac Pro Lite
3. 12" or 13" Macbook Pro "Ultraportable"
4. Mac Media Server (Airport Extreme, multiple bays for RAIDing drives, Time Machine support, iTunes music/movie/podcast support for your internal network, Back to my Mac so you can stream content anywhere you are outside your home)

Eh...but mostly I'll be happy if they offer an upgrade path from my current iPhone

Am i wrong to hope they throw 802.11n in the iPhone so I don't have to maintain any G signal anymore?

Hmm, I hadn't thought about that, but it would make sense - they did just update the Airport Express to 802.11n, so I think the iPhone is the only thing left with G (or does the Mini have G still, too?).

The iPhone, iPod touch, and Mac mini are still using 802.11g only.

Maybe I'm weird, but I like having both an 802.11n and 802.11g network, especially for my MacBook Pro. I have an AirPort Express in 5GHz 802.11n-only mode, and I'm almost never plugged into my gigabit network anymore because it's so fast.

True, but I only want 1 router to rule them all and thus far all the simultaneous dual band routers have issues.

Hoping for a new Mini here. I'd get the new iMac, but I already have a 24 and a 30" LCD monitor, so it would be kind of redundant.

I just got to thinking, if Apple plans to sell the 3g iPhone for $199 w/ contract or $399 without (as many of the rumors keep corroborating), I have a feeling that specific deal won't be available from the Apple Stores and you would have to buy the phone direct from AT&T, that is unless Apple becomes an AT&T reseller and starts signing up people for plans in-store.

Then again, i suppose they could charge full price up front for the phone, then if you activate on AT&T they lower your monthly bills every month until you get the $200 back (kinda like the satellite companies do)

Personally, I would be happy to see the current Mini given the Santa Rosa treatment and a speed bump with a slight price drop. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that when/if Apple updates the Mini they will take it in a new direction. Instead of keeping the current form factor and making it more capable, I think they are going to make it even smaller and subsequently less powerful. Something akin to a MacBook Air without a display.

Without knowing what's going to be in the new iPhone, it's hard to speculate on new Touches. Apple's not going to put out a new Touch unless the CPU/GPU/Wifi components get changed.

It should.. I have wanted this for forever! I hope it does get it, and I hope that it auto senses when my Mac is present and I can choose to have it sync. That would be ideal. I also would like a form of .Mac syncing over the internet of my bookmarks, address book, etc...

Oh.. I'm quite excited, especially since I finally have the money together to get one for my wife and I. YAY!

Looks like 3G and GPS have been confirmed in the leaked iPhone firmware;

http://www.engadget.com/2008/0...-hsdpa-and-gps-are-go/

What's interesting though it that it appears to be an A-GPS, not a standard GPS chip.

From wiki;

GPS is a satellite based positioning system. Assisted GPS, or A-GPS was introduced to enhance performance. The development of A-GPS was accelerated by the U.S. FCC's E911 mandate making the position of a cell phone available to emergency call dispatchers. [1]

Conventional GPS used to have difficulty providing reliable positions in poor signal conditions. For example when surrounded by tall buildings (as a result of multipath), or when the satellite signals are weakened by being indoors or under trees. Some newer receivers are better at handling these situations.

In addition, when first turned on in these conditions, some non-A-GPS units may not be able to download the almanac and ephemeris information from the GPS satellites, rendering them unable to function until a clear signal can be received continuously for up to one minute.

An A-GPS receiver can address these problems in several ways, using an Assistance Server:

* The Assistance Server can locate the phone roughly by what cell site it is connected to on the cellular network.
* The Assistance Server has a good satellite signal, and lots of computation power, so it can compare fragmentary signals relayed to it by cell phones, with the satellite signal it receives directly, and then inform the cell phone or emergency services of the cell phone's position.
* It can supply orbital data for the GPS satellites to the cell phone, enabling the cell phone to lock to the satellites when it otherwise could not, and autonomously calculate its position.
* It can have better knowledge of ionospheric conditions and other errors affecting the GPS signal than the cell phone alone, enabling more precise calculation of position. (See also Wide Area Augmentation System)

Some A-GPS solutions require an active connection to a cell phone (or other data) network to function, in others [2] [3] it simply makes positioning faster and more accurate, but is not required.

As an additional benefit, it can reduce both the amount of CPU and programming required for a GPS Phone by offloading most of the work onto the assistance server. (This is not a large amount for a basic GPS - many early GPSs ran on 386/16 or similar hardware).

High Sensitivity GPS is an allied technology, that addresses some of the same issues in a way that does not require additional infrastructure. It notably cannot provide instant fixes when the phone has been off for some time, that some forms of A-GPS can.

That would be amazing... maybe give you the option to toss the pictures in a certain group or even just give them a certain tag or something? As in, you're at a restaurant, and now you can write that title, and then just upload them right away.

Edit: With a GPS, maybe you can select where you're at... as in, it knows your location and confirms you're at that place. All you have to do is confirm the location, take pictures, and the rest is all done.

3. 12" or 13" Macbook Pro "Ultraportable"

I'd *love* a lower price macbook pro that is stripped down a bit maybe... no optical drive being the biggest difference, and with a 12-13" display.

Overall, I can't wait for the new products to be announced...

I brought my Macbook to work so I can download and install any new iPhone stuff that they release today.

Didn't want to have to wait until I go home.. even though the keynote isn't until 1:00pm EST
