The new Mac Pro seems cool, but there's a part of me that's worried that it's G4 Cube Part Deux. Here's hoping that Apple can make it relatively cheap somehow?

....and now the Mac Pro vs. Mac mini comparison is much less of a difference than before. (No extra internal storage slots, non-upgradable GPU, non-upgradable CPU, etc.) If the next Mac mini comes with 2 or more Thunderbolt ports, then unless you really need the GPU/CPU power then it simply won't make sense to buy the Mac Pro.

No one bought the Mac Pro because they were looking for a desktop for surfing the web... They bought it because they're usually someone who is in some serious form of content creation.

Am I the only one who strongly prefers the edge-to-edge glass display with black edges on the MBP to the aluminum bezel on the MBA? That really kind of bugs me about that otherwise stellar design.

Oh yeah anyone would IMHO. But I think being weight and thickness optimized creates limitations. I've always thought that was ugly. And also the bezels are massive. So many ultra books with thinner bezels.

I'd also not suggest getting the refurb unless you're not too concerned about battery life. The MBA was already pretty good (well at least the 13") but Haswell is going to put it in a completely different league.

They should have done one more big cat codename before retiring them. That would have made it an even 10 cats, and we could move on to OS XI.

Totally agree. My 11" gets only 2.5-3 hours real world battery life. I would definitely get the new one.

anyone installed ios7 on an ip4 yet or heard how it runs? i may do it tonight after the sony e3 conference or tomorrow, but curious how ti runs on the ip4. cdma on verizon if that matters at all.

I put it on a 5. And I have to admit I stand corrected. This UI is totally new. It's really weird at first. It does have some bugs and lags. But so far I've been using it. It's really really different. The announcement didn't really give me the feel of a new design but this really is different in many ways. Still trying to figure out everything.

It's pretty cool. But it can be buggy. It's rebooted on me 3 times. Once in contacts. Once in the music player. And I don't remember the other time. It's also a bit laggy and slow. Surprisingly 3rd party apps seem to load faster. This keyboard seem slower. But more accurate.

I'm relatively late to the iPhone game so pardon the newbish question, but if iOS7 will "run" on an iPhone 4, how will it likely run on a 4S? Also, there is a disclaimer that not all features will run on all compatible devices. Any ideas as to which features they may be referring to?

I haven't come across any reboots or anything like that yet.

So far iOS 7 has been fast and fun. I feel like they went a little too far with some of the animations, especially the whole zoom in/out thing it does when you open things, but otherwise I'm enjoying it so far.

Also, iTunes Radio is already there so that's nice.

What's your take on iTunes Radio, if you've used it enough to give us an opinion on it?

It's Radio-y.

I haven't used it that much yet. I'll report back later after I've used it for today.

Airdrop for one won't work on either. Said something to do with the wifi they use. I'm pretty ticked with that one.

Maybe the iPhone 5 is dual-band? I'm not sure.

What would you rather that they do, not support any device that can't run all the features? Cut older devices off from support as soon as a new OS comes out?

I'll fly my complaint flag:

1. No iPhone 5S? (or larger iPhone)
2. No iWatch?
3. No Retina MBA? (been waiting ages for this)
4. No Retina iPad Mini?
5. No Haswell MBP?
6. No NUC-esqe Mac Mini?

I'd really like for the Retina MBA to be my go-to machine, but I think I'll just go with an ARM-based Samsung Chromebook since half the stuff I do is in the cloud anyway

1. Fall

2. Who really cares? I betcha most people talking about an iWatch don't even wear a watch at all anymore.

3. Not gonna happen any time soon. Retina will be MacBook Pro.

4. Fall.

5. Agree. We're overdue for new MacBook Pros. I wouldn't be surprised to see a quiet update in the next several weeks.

6. I must admit I'm not entirely sure what the revolution of NUC is. The Mac mini has always been small. The Intel is just a bit smaller, often with lower end specs. I could see the benefit of going smaller with the Mac mini, but that would just be an evolutionary step, but not really a big deal for most people I think. I could see the Mac mini being updated in a couple of months though, with Haswell.

Agree on all points. Though I think that retina across all lines may be inevitable. I just think that for the time being it makes sense to use it as a differentiating feature between the Pro and the Air.

I finished installing it on my test iphone 4 and it is horrible. 6.1.3 made the 4 pretty useless and 7 just killed it. It is so slow that I pretty much want to smash the 4. I am in the middle of doing my iphone 5 and hopefully it will be much better. From the little i played with ios 7 on the 4 I like it so far. Will report back when its on my 5.

How much difference is there in the 4 and the 4S? Enough to matter?

I guess the question is whether I should be holding out for a new MBA or not. If Retina is a 2014 or 2015 product, then maybe I should jump now...Somehow I doubt it's coming for fall 2013.

Yeah, Retina is the only question. Haswell is nice, but I'll hold out for a Retina.
