X-Fi Drivers?

I'm going to be reformatting my computer in the next few days, and I was wondering which X-Fi (Xtrememusic) drivers work best under Vista64. Back when I used XP I used the drivers that were on the included CD and they worked fine. When I went to Vista a while back, I downloaded drivers from their website, but I feel like it sounds worse than it did in XP. I'm also missing settings (like the THX settings that let you input your speaker locations).

Should I just get the drivers from Creative's site? Or are there custom drivers for Vista that work better? Or should I even use the old drivers that are on my CD (though Vista wasn't around when the CD was made)?

I haven't had any problems using the drivers directly from their site. Everything works and sounds great.

Interesting. Do you have the THX settings panel?

If you want the extras you'll need the original disk.. you don't have this though so you'll need to do some searching for Creative driver/install CD ISO's. They exist on some torrent sites and should give you all the applications you want, as well as updated Vista 64 drivers.

I do have the CD that came with the card, but it's pretty old now so I'm afraid it might not be the best choice for Vista64. Thanks for the tip though; I'll try to find a newer CD image online.

Why wouldn't they just make everything available on their own site, though? It doesn't make sense that they'd only put up part of their software online.

Agreed, Creative just annoys me by not making the entire iso available.

I mean, what are they trying to accomplish?
Stopping soundcard piracy?

I have the same soundcard as you bro, when i did a fresh install of Vista64 Ultimate, I just let Vista find the drivers for me and I have the THX panel and everything, at first I was just going to manually download the drivers from Creative site, but Vista 64 actually did it all for me, with no problems and I have everything that I had when I was using XP

Hm, that's interesting. I finished installing Vista last night and it didn't come up with drivers for the X-Fi. I couldn't find a recent looking ISO anywhere either (I downloaded one that turned out to have stuff from 05 like my own CD) so I just went with what they had online.

You can get the Vista CD from creative labs web shop for the cost of shipping ($5). No sure if they keep it current or you will have to apply the updates.
