X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS vs X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Edition

Hey! I'm building a new computer and currently own the X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS Edition (bought back in November of last year). What's the difference between this card and the newer X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty?

If nothing, then I'll just use the card I have now.

I consider the X-FI fatality fps a waste of money. You don't want to hear my opinion on the new marketing BS by Creative..
To me a X-FI value is more than enough to do the job as it should unless you want the fancy panel..

I understand that. I think it's crap too. But I didn't know that when I bought it back when. And now, my friend wants the Fatal1ty XtremeGamer. He gave me 3000 (LOL) to build him just an awesome rig. And I thought I could profit more by just installing mine on his rather then buy a new one.

But rather than waste money, I really would like to know if they're the same or different Thanx for your input tho

I think the XtremeGamer Fatal1ty is just the X-Fi Fatal1ty without the drive bay.

The XtremeGamer is a smaller card and the biggest difference is probably the lack of X-Ram (although it still has hardware accelleration that the XtremeAudio lacks).

Whatever X-Fi he ends up with, make sure he has some good speakers / headphones to take advantage of it.

I wonder about front panel connectors with the XtremeGamer Fatality.

Two other new X-Fi cards that is Xtreme Audio and Gamer both have 5x2 Pin connector for a standard front panel. If Xtreme Gamer Fatality had this connection as well, this would be yet another difference.

Myself I have old X-Fi Fatalitywith drive bay and I like it. Upfront connections and remote control are actually handy. XRAM is is probably gimmick but hell I do not object to having more memory in my PC and some games make use of it.

for 3000, go with the 8800GTX not the 7950, you do not need the stupid front panel, and get the E6600 it has a bigger L2 cache

X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatality is basically the Fatality without the Front Panel and also it supposedly has no onboard DTS/Dolby decoders, since Vista removed hardware decoding anyway. Creative is including coupons/download links for the Cyberlink PowerDVD (deluxe version I'm guessing) which will come with its own decoders.
