The amazing part is that i found this thread with the search engine.

Its still available for $69.99, so i had to ask about the software.
I havent seen it cheaper anywhere else.

I doubt it comes with software. My xfi couldnt use the driver disk at all. I had to use the creative update thing for it to load drivers correctly anyways.

With just the creative drivers from their site, do you still get stuff to set your eax settings, surround settings and mixer....etc...etc... (not sure what the x-fi comes with)

Or are you just stuck with the plain old windows "generic" settings only?

I dont remember actually. I downgraded to onboard.

I'd love to know where the OEM differs. The retail comes with no software except drivers and some lame "demo" disc. Also, no cables included, at all. How much more bare can you get?
In any event, if the hardware is the same, this is a really nice deal.

Creative are big a$$holes when it comes to drivers differentiating OEM boards and turning off features/software. So anyone with an OEM and a bit of knowledge could let us know if this is indeed a hot deal.

I found out you can get full software installation disc images HERE.

I went ahead and bought one off of a member in the FS/Trade forum.
Too afraid to try OEM.

The web drivers contain the audio console to adjust a lot of settings, but you do not get the console launcher that has game, entertainment, and audio creation panels.

I'll bet these images work for this card. I downloaded the image for an old Audigy from an OEM HP and it worked fantastically. I might have to use my 50.00 gift card for this!

how does this card compare to an Audigy 2ZS? I ordered one for $50 AR from buy.com but it's backordered and I've been thinking of canceling it. Is this card worth the extra $20?

I bit. It came with all the software, no cables, and a case sticker (Creative). I was worried about it working with my Nforce 4 motherboard but it worked just fine. No problems to report. Now, I'd like to find a Platinum Drive I/O box cheap.

I'm not so sure that's true. I'm running my X-Fi using Vista and downloaded files from Creative's site. I have the switcher in my task bar and switch from Entertainment Mode to Game Mode when gaming, then back. This is the latest beta and it's much better than the prior beta. I expect the final release to have everything XP has. Of course I may be misunderstanding you.

Watch out for X-Fi compatability problems with NForce4. Snap Crackle Pop. I can't get some games to work at all while some others are fine.
