X-Files 2 officially announced. Duchovny and Anderson signed.

Hollywood (CA) - The pop culture sci-fi phenomenon The X-Files is making a return to the big screen, with production on the second X-Files movie to begin next month. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have both been confirmed as reprising their character roles for the movie.


Executive producer Chris Carter will also return to be the head man behind the scenes. Production is set to begin on December 10, and Fox has announced a tentative release date of July 25, 2008. The X-Files TV series ran from 1993 - 2002, lasting nine season.


I'm glad they didn't wait too long.
Hope they do a better job than the first movie.

The first movie fit in perfectly where it was supposed to take place in between seasons. Watching it as a stand alone movie though, would be pointless. I loved it. I'm pumped for this new one.

First movie was like a 2 hour season finale, i.e. not really worthy of the big screen. Hopefully they can do something big with this one without going too "mulder gives birth to an alien baby sired by the smoking man who was brought back to life by aliens who abducted scully's sister while investigating the disappearance of that guy from terminator 2" on us.
