I never could figure out the mutant detector, every child born is essentially a mutant unless you clone yourself (and cloning has replication errors) receiving recessive genetic material from both parents could bring traits out that neither show.

Parents afraid of their children seemed so sick to me.

In real world science, every child born isn't exactly a "mutant."

But, the way that mutant detector works, is that it scans for the so-called "X-Gene" The Hollywood explanation of the locus that is responsible for mutants and their powers. I suppose that any mutation on that locus (though I think they always flubbed this and tried to imply that it was an entire chromosome, while using the word "gene" instead. But, I digress) would trigger the detector. ...eh. whatever.

I dunno. some cooler-sounding name for someone that is basically Namor? I think tons of these mutants are created for the movies...though I could be wrong. I'm way out of date on this stuff. Bishop is still the newest X-Man to me.

He was the Asian guy with long hair in X-Men: First Class. He was part of the antagonist mutant group and was able to create twisters. In the comics, I believe he was part of the Marauders in Mutant Massacre storyline, but had white hair and could also shoot out projectiles from his twisters.

Actually, that was explained in X3. After the credits, you get the scene where Xavier "wakes up" in someone's body. Moira McTaggert is there, and you here Picard say "Moira" and she's like "WTF?"

btw, that is something Xaviar always did--transfer his mind to someone, or trap it in the astral plane or dark plane--whatever that place was called--until he can find a suitable means to return to the real world. ...comics.

Oh, I do remember that Xcutioner's song series across the X-series comics...mid nineties? He was assassinated, right? I seem to recall that is how he saved himself, but he also ventured into that astral plane or whatever it was, where that Dark Lord--you know that dude? held dominion--He did that a lot.

I've been looking and I'm not finding them. In X-cutioner's song he didn't really do much other than get infected with the techno virus. I'd need to read those again. The Shadow King stuff he hid himself but didn't leave his body. I only ask because I was talking to a couple of other older X-fans and we all were stumped at him possessing people like he did in the movie. While I know it's different universes and different Xaviers it brought up the "dick Xavier" thing the comics had been doing after Claremont left. None of us could remember if he pulled that dick move. (Taking over someone's body without permission is either rape or at best a super dick move)

That scene was the reason I went back to watch the whole movie a second time in a week!

Edit : you should read up on that song and Jim Croce. Makes it even more poignant. He wrote the song for his yet-to-be-born son, and then died in a plane crash a year later. Time in a bottle indeed.
