This might have spawned from the same factory as the X-Qpack. It also includes a memory card reader built-in and some kind of notebook drive bay.

its a chenming frame. They supply the chassis for all the x-qpacks and derivatives. Differences are only in the bezels and any electronics that might be housed in them.

These are actually pretty good for simple builds and I like them alot...

Only thing to be aware of is that clearance height for CPU HS/Fan - I think it can take maximum 68 or 70mm height coolers...

I have this case and it aint bad. Holds a full size ATX PSU. For the most part it is quiet (it sits in my bedroom). I paid $50 for mine, this is a steal. Almost wish I had another Matx board to use in it.
Only downside is the cpu cooling fans. Cant use tall fancy ones. I use my OEM one that came with my cpu and it fits just right.

Any idea how long of a video card this can hold?

Edit:
It looks big enough to at least hold a 5850. Possibly dual 5850s?

the MB panel slides out (which is hard to find feature for cheap case like this) even though it's a bit flimsy...

I've always only used IGP on this so don't remember the VC size limit..

Anand actually has a review which shows that 9800XT can be installed so I guess you can extrapolate based on size of that card.
And also the CNPS7000 is the cooler (very quiet and decent performer) I actually did use and it fits barely with maybe few mm clearance.

I did a quick google search for Aspire X-Qpack and in comments for a YouTube video someone said an 8800GTS (10 inches) was supposed to fit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf6nZr2rpxI

At least for the revision 1 X-Qpack, a short optical drive like LiteOn was recommended; don't know if that is not an issue with revision 2 (which this clone presumably is)

short optical drive was indeed necessary IF you chose to buy/install a full size PSU of your choice replacing the one came with the case.

The PSU (I think 420W and fairly decent quality) that came with original XQpack was proprietary size I think and it allowed almost ALL ODD sizes to be installed. However, it was a bit noisy - not unbearable but definitely can hear/notice.

I snagged one of these recently on a newegg deal for ~$45 shipped AR. It's a great little case if you need something this size. Airflow is respectable. Noise level (except the PS) is low. The included power supply is pretty annoying, as noted above. I'll be replacing the PS fan as soon as the noise level outweighs my laziness.

I'd give it a 9/10 given the size and price.

It can hold fairly long graphics cards. The only problem is that on some cards (such as GTX 260/275/285) where you plug the PCIe power plugs in on the top edge of the card, it is blocked by the bottom of the lower 5¼" drive bay. Some people have just dremeled it out (losing the use of the bay for an actual drive).

The PSU (I think 420W and fairly decent quality) that came with original XQpack was proprietary size

The Apevia/Aspire 420W PSUs were really crappy and were just like "normal" ATX PSUs, except shorter.

jonnyGURU reviews Aspire (Apevia) 420W PSU pulled from an X-Qpack

Quote from the review:
Not even cable of putting out 300W. Where did Aspire get the specs on the label?!?!

btw - this case was definitely LARGER (longer) than I expected when it first arrived... It might just be me but just from the reviews and photos on web, I expected something closer to Shuttle (custom systems) product sizes but it definitely was bigger than MY expectations.

Still a very nice for simple builds and prob ok for HTPC builds.

LOL, then you had unrealistic expectations. ^_^

Think about it for a moment... it has to hold a micro ATX motherboard, which by itself is wider than a Shuttle case, plus have nearly an inch on each side of the motherboard for clearance. Also, front-back it needs to fit a normal ATX power supply and a normal optical drive, with room for cables to plug in. It also needs to be tall enough for a normal sized graphics card with the power supply on top of it.

it holds my 4850x2 with about 3 inches to spare. I should mention though it will have a lot to do with your mobo layout if something that long will fit or not though.

Looks like the only catch is not being able to fit bigger heatsinks on the CPU. I guess that wouldn't matter much for i3's which are known to oc well with stock heatsink. Wonder if something relatively small and cheap like hyper 212 plus will work?

Oversized cpu HSF will not work, they wont fit under the frame. It must be a low profile, like what comes with a cpu if you buy it with one.

That's what a hacksaw is for...and yes, I hacksawed mine!

Running a Xigmatek 120mm unit in mine (no fan - BE2400 passively cooled but the case fan pulls enough air across it to keep the temperatures cool).

If only it didn't have the windows... as previously stated, I prefer not to see all that dust building up in there. Good for a LAN party rig, though...

how sturdy is the case after cutting? I'm sure its fine as long as your not moving it around much but if your going to be transporting it frequently I'm not sure I'd want to trim the metal there.

I went with a coolermaster gemini ii s which is 62mm tall combined with a scythe slip stream slim 120 (12mm thick) for a total of 74mm which is the absolute maximum without doing any cutting. I then used the stock 120mm on the coolermaster to replace the crappy one that came with the case

if you look at the pics in my thread link, you'll see that the frame strut has really only been notched out. i cut 2 frame members, you can get away with only cutting the one on the side if all you want is a full sized cooler. it is still plenty sturdy.
