I've purchased some computer parts over a month ago and they sent me the wrong case....twice (i order a black x-superalien and i keep getting a silver x-alien). Now that i've had some time to think about it, the Tsunami Dream has caught my eye; but i heard it's very noisy -_-. Which case should i get? If these two aren't good enough...which case should i get?

here's my pc parts :
Dvd Burner
Dvd/cdrw combo drive
4 hard drives (all SATA)
Radeon 9800XT

Cooling is needed, as well as space for my drives and hard drive. My pc will be right next to me so i dont want to deal with overbearing noise. Can anyone help a guy out? >_< this is my first pc

why would you want that crap alien case anyways, anything going for it besides the novelty? Plus, it looks tacky. Fifth graders probably think it's cool. And as far as thermaltake, screw their entirexaser, xcase xasera flkdjasflkj whatever product line. Get an antec.

The Sonata? I wanted to get that case at first but i'm worried about cooling.

As for why i wanted the Alien..

It has a good set of fans that aren't *that loud*

the NZXT Nemesis Elite isn't a bad case either...

The Elite

It's a great case, really. NZXT also has excellent customer service. The fan controller in mine went on the fritz, and they just wanted to know my shipping address and the color of the case to match the replacement controller with. All through email and never had to lift a phone.

By all means, pick up the TT 'Tsunami'. AT did backflips for it not too long ago in their review of cases.

The silver Tsui is gonna be my next case. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my CoolerMaster ATC-110 which is pretty old school now, but the TT case is pretty sexy, has a great brushed finish, which I think is sweet and is solidly-built and is easy to work in and around.

I'm an Architect, so of course this case has a certain appeal!

The TT is awsome. It's quite quiet accually. If it's ahead of you i wouldnt worry much, the front pannel weighs 6 lbs, and the fans are rated at 21 or so dbs.

It has a lot of space and the cooling is very good. Sure, it's a bit pricey i guess, but you wont be sorry (at least, from what i've heard...). It has quite a few sound dampening features, like rubber HDD and CD/DVD drive gromets, heafty front pannel...and, well, maybe other things?...

But anyways, it's very nice...

That's what i "heard" from my reading various reviews from people that owned one.

It certainly is a beautiful case tho...

...would those fans be easy to replace?

the question is how much louder...and is the 92mm fan included with the window loud as well....

yes the fans can be replaced easily...but that adds cost...making it closer in cost to Wavemaster

Quick question to anyone wiht a Tsunami or Wave master. Can the hdd cage easily be turned sideways maybe with alittle modding? I really like both cases but ive wanted my next case to have the sideways bays sense they first started appearing that way.

the fans are replacable. As for the noise level of the 120mm fans, it's definitely above 30 decibels.

they both ugly cases. 30 db is pretty quiet for a case. i think average is somwhere between 4 and 5 bel. keep in mind every additional .5 bel (or 5db) feels twice as loud. 40 db case sounds 4x as loud as a 30db case.

I love my Tsunami, but I wish I would have gotten it in silver (I don't care what anyone else says about silver being lame) the black fingerprints way too easy and is a real pain in the ass to keep clean.

Where there is a will there's a way I'm sure....but this would be a real pain in the ass I think. As for the Tsunami, I wouldn't even try it, the stock design places the HD's directly in front of a 120mm fan which is a sweet design. If you were to turn the cage it's side would block airflow from the fan, reducing the HD cooling and also blocking the airflow to the rest of the case. I wouldn't recommend it, why mess with a good design?

My Superalien review from another thread:

Pretty well designed except TOO MUCH PLASTIC on an "aluminum" case. The entire front is plastic. The model I received (420W) does not come with 80mm front fans - purchase them separately.

The good:

1.Includes four 80mm fans --two of the are blue lighted LED fans> I think ther are more on the 500w PS model.

2. VERY Lightweight. - >plastic and alumminum

3. 5.25" drive rails for easy installs (see the bad as well).

4. Side mounted HD slot w/five 3.5" hard drive trays- very convenient and easy to remove/install.

5. The FDD cage can be taken out for installation.

6. Blue LED rheobus w/dual temperature display and two fan speed controls mounted in the front bezel.

7. The two temp sensors are fairly accurate.

8. The fans are easily removed/installed

9. Includes a decent 420w PS and plenty of MB/HD/DVD/CD installation screws.

The Bad:

1. PLASTIC FRONT DOOR & HINGE-- The top hinge broke off within the first 10 minutes of ownership. I had to epoxy it. I hope it will hold. >> UPDATE still holding- use plastic weld epoxy.

2. Plastic rivets used on the top and side fan grills--instead of fan grill screws. To change the fan grills, I had to burn the plastic rivets off and replace them with real metal screws.

3. 5.25" drive rails are made of mediocre plastic- be gentle with them. Pinching the drive rails to remove the drives doesn't always do the job--requires some extra force to remove the 5.25 drives.

4. No intake fan filter on the front fans or side fan- This something minor-- but Aspire could include fan filters.

5. Side door gets slightly stuck and requires some force to open & close.

6. removable motherboard tray is mostly useless since you have to take out all PCI/AGP cards to install/uninstall.

7. needs long 24" IDE cables to reach the HD bay

8. Front door has a red colored, bulbous panel (which make the alien-like eyes) held in by plastic rivets--so, it is going to be difficult to remove and replace it.

9. The IEEE1394 -firewire cable connector module looked exaclty the same as the USB2 cable--trouble with ASUS MB as the connectors are completely different (needs individual Firewire lines in).

UPDATE : Aspire CSR was very helpful and offered to swap F/W cable for the correct one.

Thermaltake is horrible when it comes to their fan specs, they can't be trusted at all.

I would say it's at least 35dBA, closer to 40.
