x10.com TWO for ONE sale

The X-10 components have been around for quite a few years... the remote control switches and dimmers that Radio Shack has sold under its private label as well as numerous other private labels... and under the X-10 brand itself.

Recently, X-10 has taken advantage of its knowledge of RF signals to produce a line of mineature spy cameras of several types.

Their website, www.x10.com has always had good deals. For a while, they were FABULOUS deals, now they are just back to GOOD. If you sign up for their mailing list, you'll get notice every couple of weeks of some sort of promotional sale and, right now it is, drum roll please, the NEW YEARS SALE.

The ten most popular items of 2001 on special: BUY ONE, GET ANOTHER FOR ONE CENT, through January 8th. With FREE SHIPPING in the US if you buy $50 in sale or non-sale items. And a no risk 30-Day money back guarantee.

Among the items on this deal:

5 items, wireless TV cameras & accessories
4 items, X-10 switches and controllers, including a wireless motion detector
1 item, VCR Commander II

I have a house-full of X-10 stuff. Check it out.

gsaldivar, I've never purchased anything from X10 and I receive SPAM, imagine if I did buy something from them! This isn't a hot deal in my opinion.

The only hot deal concering X10 is the opt out program.

Click the link to opt out of getting their lame pop under ads for a year:
http://www.x10.com/home/optout.cgi?DAY=365&PAGE=http://www.x10.com/x10ads1.htm[L=NO X10 POPUPS FOR A YEAR]

Note for those of you who looks at html links, you can replace that day= number with anything. I figure if I have not reinstalled/upgraded my operating system a single time in a year then i'm probably dead so it doesn't matter.

As for the x10 gear, why support a company that goes so far out of it's way to annoy consumers? I'd be tickled pink if not a single soul purchased anything from x10 in 2002 and they went belly up and their ads went away.

Geez, give this guy a break... you are entitled to hate X10, but you don't have to bash bigdoggie for passing on this deal!

Sounds like marketingspeech to me. Is BigDoggie from the dark (x10-emplyoed) side? Are posts on AT their latest annoying and questionable marketing practice?

lay off guys. We sure do have some nice, understanding people here @ AT

I like X10 products (modules). I've never tried out the cams and probably won't but they used to have free $20 GC's all the time and you could get like 3 modules for only $5. This was a great deal but lately their deals have sucked.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. Don't bash BigDoggie just for trying to be helpful. He has 88 posts so I really doubt he's one of X10's marketing goonie's coming to AT.

new years sale.. hahaha... they have sales every other day.. actually everyday... I don't care what* kind of sale they have.. the prices are still too high. If you really* want to buy something from them, at least sign up for their email updates & get the $15 certificate for signing up.. den place the order. But of course u gotta use ur spammable email account.. (not ur important/main one) cuz u will* get spammed HARD. Right now I have their MouseRemote.. which i use to control my winamp/windvd, and 2 diff. set of lights in my room.. Their ads are annoying but their products are really not that bad..

Before X10 started with all the popups, people were all over them for the hot deals. They make good products. Just because they have some advertising revenue doesn't mean that their product quality has gone hill. AFAIK, they still make/sell good stuff, so it is indeed a hot deal for some.

Should we limit the hot deals postings only to companies that don't advertise?

I see X10 popups everywhere - including y@hoo. In my opinion, X10 is promoting pr0n (aka voyeurism) to anyone checking their email.

"X10 is promoting pr0n (aka voyeurism) to anyone checking their email"

and tv commercials promote things like violence and sex yada yada yda...

"Should we limit the hot deals postings only to companies that don't advertise?"

I guess so. Lately many people have been using the Hot Deal forums to state their personal opinion about companies. It is very frustrating to open a thread and half of the post are just trashing on a company. Post about how X10 stuff works or what would be good items to buy would be a little more useful.

I can't stand all the X10 popup banners. The daily email is one I signed up for, though...so it is OK.

I, too, have a house full of the traditional X10 home automation modules. They are really cool for automation of lighting, appliances, etc. Can't vouch for the camera stuff as I've never bought any.

Interesting enough, I just did the opt-out thing, and it's telling me for the next 30 days I'll be free of the popups. Oh well, Yahoo is the only place that spams be badly with them, and I don't go there much.

As far as x10.com goes, I bought one of their starter kits (when it was still $7) before they started to sell their voyuer cam, I was pleased with it (still use it actually, for the christmas lights and such). I plan on expanding my christmas light control with it next year, so I hopped on there hoping I could score a couple grounded appliance modules for a cheap price, then use a $15 GC to pay for them. No such luck, the three prong appliance modules were like $13 from them. I got on smarthome.com, they were $5/ea. For the SAME MODULE! And Smarthome won't spam me forever if I order from them.

Jeez, people, you'd think I had farted in church!

I actually USE the x-10 stuff. Every light switch in my house is an x-10 switch... and I turn all those lights off by pressing one button. The REGULAR prices on the x-10 website are as good as Radio Shack prices. And their TWO-FOR-ONE sales (and their e-mail $$$-OFF discount coupons) make the deals even better.

This *IS* a deals forum, right? And I *DID* post a TWO-FOR-ONE deal, right? You don't have to like the company to take advantage of the deals... look at all the people posting Dell deals. And those of you who descended into name calling and personal insults can kiss my a**.

Thanks for the post BigDoggie! We all would appreciate more friendly responses for attempts to post Hot Deals.

I use one email account for all of my online orders only. No friends or associates know this account exists . This account is constantly spammed, but I keep my other accounts almost spam free this way. I only check this account to delete the spam and track orders. I am amazed that so many people are complaining about spam. Spam is here and not going away, deal with it!

x10 products are normally an exceptional for the money. However, as some have pointed out in their posts in this thread we need to shop around before we make purchases anywhere.

Happy New Year all! It is only Jan 6 and the hounds are back! Lighten up everybody!
