Thanks to stso at fatwallet for posting this:
http://www.x10.com/gift/getgift.cgi

I purchased the "UltimateREMOTE Home Control Kit" when this deal ran two weeks ago and it comes with enough stuff to control two lights (or 1 light and 1 appliance) and a universal remote control to operate your tv,vcr, dvd, stereo, as well as up to 4 devices (including the above 2 mentioned lights). Features: Kit includes: Universal UltimateREMOTE (UR47A), Transceiver Module (TM751), Lamp Module (LM465), Instruction manual.

The package costs $19.99 (free after the voucher) you just pay $5.90 s/h. Also comes free with wall mountable switch to control 4 devices.

Not junk - X10 stuff rocks. Only problem is it seems they want to start to make money or something...you can't get quite the steals from them that you could a year ago.

But these $20 off no minimums are always nice for stocking up - just pay shipping. The bummer is you used to be able to get $25 of merchandise, apply the $20, and get free shipping - no the total (pre-coupon, I believe) has to be $50 or so to qualify for the free shipping.

You know, I keep finding an X10 ad window open behind my other browser windows when I close them down. I don't know which web site is opening it but I'm not happy about it.

I went to the link to opt out of the x10 popups, and I still had one today:|

Anyways, if you have two of these, you could make it so they all work with each other right? Their site was really slow and I hit reload after the confirmation page didn't show up(I knew it might put 2 orders through, but didn't mind too much since it was a webcertificate and I already had a $3 "dormancy fee" on it for May, so I might as well use it up). I got 2 email confirmations for $5.90 each.

Yes, you can use two together. Actually, you can control up to 256 devices with the PalmPad remote, although 16 is much more practical - over that, you need to swtich the housecode setting.

I've replaced all of my light switches with 10's, and have several lamp/appliance modules installed. I've also used their motion sensing equipment, and have dabbled in the cameras (only the hardwired ones). Overall, I've been quite happy with their schtuff.

I know zip zero nada about electricity stuff how easy is it to remove the faceplate of a wall mounted light switch and put in an X10 device thingie? What are my options? I'd like a normal switch on the outside but to be able to control the lights with a remote with dimming features. There are two ceiling lights in my bedroom which I will soon replace with those super efficient fluroscent light bulbs.

This probably made no sense but I'm hoping that someone understands what I'm asking, thanks

Seems like a good deal. Too bad I will never buy an x10 product my entire life due to their web ad campaign. Is the remote a learning one or pre-programmed one?

TASunder - the one i mentioned is both. it has a booklet with a lot of codes but you can also "train" it.

X10 sells good products, but if you buy from them be prepared to get a shi*load of spam.

Rossman,

You can replace a standard light switch with an inexpensive X10 light switch, but it is a push-button style switch (very functional, but bothers my wife). You can but more expensive switches ($50 to $100) that look like the larger paddle switches and have standard light switch operation w/ X10 functions on top (plus some other memory-type features).

When you switch to fluorescent fixtures, you may need to get a special wall switch for those, cuz the X10 standard switch is for incandescent only.

Jened -

Small correction: Normally "UltimateREMOTE Home Control Kit" comes with enough stuff to control one light, not two.. Still a good catch though, especially considering they sell only the remote for $24.99.. I bought this kit a couple of months ago and I like it. However I cannot make it control my digital cable box (G.I.) I tried everything in the manual, no success

scorpi0: what model of cable box do you have? I have a motorola dct2000. This box was actually made by GI. The code for the cable box I have is 064. Try it and see if it works for you.

Scorpio,
You can control 2 lights, one off of the lamp module, and one off of the tranceiver.

TheBeast- I didn't know that the slot on the transceiver is X10 controllable. Thanks for the heads up on that And my apologies to Jened..

UPDATE: Unfortunately the code didn't work with my cable box
