I ordered this the last time, but cannot for the life of me think of a use.

I use this all the time. I got more products from them, too.

I like being able to go to bed at night, and turn off all the lights in my whole house with just one button. I also got some of their X10 remote controls. Controls my VCR, my TV, my lights, my stereo. Only one remote, controls the whole house.

When I get home at night, I have a remote by the front door, and I just turn on the lights I need, in the rooms that I want them on in. Works like a charm.

It's particularly useful at Christmas-time. I plug in all the outdoor and indoor decorations and lights to the system, and can turn them off on a timer, or when I go to bed.

It's a great system, and no, I don't work for them. I got started on the whole thing a few years ago when my local Radio Shack was getting rid of some of their stuff for cheap, cheap.

I never had good success with the wired RS remotes, though. I've burned through two.

Oh well.

These are cool but I've been doing business with this company for quite some time and the products are far superior....some of the differences are.

Longer Life...X-10 units tend to die early deaths....Jesus has a lot of these
Listens better.....for the signals....
they also offer a plug in coupler (this lets all of the units talk back and forth to eachother)
switches have scene capabilities.
soft start (allows the light to go from 0-100%, or any level inbetween, as fast or slow as you want)

The software that X10 provides for the Firecracker is pretty useless (it just duplicates the functionality of the included remote...yawn), but BottleRocket is a decent little utility if you're running Linux or *BSD (possibly including Mac OS X). You can use it in cron jobs to turn stuff on/off automatically, which makes it much more useful.

The reason you want this is for the RF remote control.
It uses the same driver as the ATI Remote Wonder so it works with free automation programs such as girder.

I have the ATI stuff wating for me to make my HTPC... so I wouldn't mind an extra remote for $6.
(Even though I hate x-10 pop-ups)

Looks like the Lola thingy is sold out. But I'm getting the lighting thingy. Just a toy, maybe I'll sneak into my neighbor's house and put a box on one of their lamps. hehe.
