This week Circuit city has the VisionTek Radeon® X1650PRO HD 256MB for $119 AR this week.

HD sounds like it means it supports HDCP and maybe a HDMI connection.

I'm looking for a mid range singleslot card that my 300w Powersupply can support and at least locally can't find a better deal

How's this compare to the Geforce 7600GS? Looks like they're pretty comparable on Tom's Hardware, picked up the 7600GS for $90 after $30 MiR over the weekend for my son's PC, good little card.

Who has the 7600GS for $90?

What sort of stability problems are people seeing with the X1650? My last ATI card was my 9800 and that was rock stable....

You are correct. $90 was old high price range for the 7600GS.
Now it's available at several places for $75 shipped (AR). Try buy.com for one example.

(check newegg for x1650. Under $100, and under $90 AR).

Or, for a much faster card, the 7600GT which many purchased for $50 AR.
Or, for over a year now, the ATi x800 GTO for $70 to $80 (AR).

The 7600GS is noticably slower than the X1650 and X800.
Tom's VGA Charts
There are a couple games where they are within a few FPS of each other, but in the many games when there is a big difference, the x1650 shows up as 20% to 80% faster than the 7600GS.

I looked at this X1650 Pro as a replacement for the X800, but it was close to a wash for performance between the two, and not a true upgrade. Couldn't care less about HDCP and HDMI. There will be work arounds when the time comes. Bought the 7600GT for a HTPC to replace the X800, but no thanks. The X800 looked much better, and the 7600GT was way too loud. Now the 7600GT is in a LAN gaming rig. Like many others, I too will stick with ATi for HTPC use. Gaming, either way, with slight edge toward nvidia. (edit: I still use nvidia purevideo decoder with the ATi card. Strange as it seems the nvidia decoder works better with the ATi than it does with the nvidia).

If given only the choice of 7600GS for $75(AR), or x1650 for $90(AR), I would go with the x1650 without a doubt.

Not trying to thread crap ... just making a suggestion.

If you want an under $150 card from ATI checkout the X1650XT. Nearly double the theoretical performance of the X1600Pro and X1650Pro due to more pipelines. (Source - http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=447&card2=472 ) I suspect memory bandwidth is going to be the only thing holding this card back from competing with the 7900GS, X1900GT, and X1950Pro.

X1650XT PCIe $129 ($109 After $20 MIR)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102068

*GASP* X1650XT AGP $169
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131036
or AGP $183 ($163 after $20 MIR) with nice HIS Cooler.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161064

The above card is what I'm now recommending to people instead of the 7600GT if they don't have an ATI/NVIDIA preference. (For people running CRTs or LCDs in the range of 1024x768 - 1650x1080. For much higher resolution gaming ... 7900GS, X1950GT, or X1950Pro at a minimum for a "gaming" system.)
The 7600GT still has a better Texture Fill Rate ... but the shader capabilities of the X1650XT make me think it will be a longer lasting card.

Buy.com search for 7600GS shows a price of $114 to $149. Given that price range the X1650Pro at CC would be a better deal?

Where can the 7600GT be found for $50 AR or X800GTO PCIE be found for $70? Either of those cards at those prices would probably do if they have dual DVI and take only one slot.

Just playing WoW, not really gaming, it's working fine on my 6150 LE integrated graphics. However I need dual DVI as I miss having my 2nd monitor.

Looking at everything so far the Newegg X1650XT referenced by VooDoo Addict at $109 (even if I need to add $20 shipping) looks like the most bang for my dual DVI buck?

Sharpen those search skills!!!
Click on an item when you see it.

The $114 item you list shows price "before" a $40 rebate, and free shipping, which makes it $75 shipped after rebate, and no tax like the CC deal has. (CC is $170 + $12 tax minus $50 in rebates, or $132 out the door). This 7600GS price has been around this amount and posted here for about 2 months now, with some deals as low as $50 after rebate. Use the search feature here in Hot deals to quickly see these prices.

But, the 1650XT might be the best bang for the buck.

Ah. Thanks for the info RobsTV.

I snooze I loose though. It looks like most of the XFX rebates ended last night. The 7600GT got renewed but nothign on the other cards (yet).

Looking around I think I concur with the sentiment on another thread. With ATI and Nvidia releasing new cards in the next month or so... "This is a horrible time to buy a graphics card".
