X1800 XT already shipping?

From OcUK

If you want an X1800 XT 512MB we have plenty of Connect3D ones arriving middle of next week.

ATI have come trumps up, my constant moaning and bickering is seeing us rewarded with a lot of stock. We shipped some pre-orders already as we had an initial small shipment and have got more stock arriving next week in good numbers.

Arghhh. I hate links to other forum threads. Dingo, have any links to retailers in the UK?
And do you mean shipping to retailers? Or to consumers?

What a completely inaccurate title. Here I was thinking that "shipping" meant that people are buying them, not some guy claiming that he's getting a bunch "next week". How soon we forget what 'next week' from ATi typically means...definitely taking this with a grain of salt. And to be honest, they'll need more than minor stock to drop prices to competing levels with the GTX (or below it, since people who already have one will just SLi as opposed to sidegrading).

And I'm sorry to digress, but how far you have come dingo...5 weeks ago, when people claimed they'd ship on Nov. 5, it was FUD and misinformation, and now when they ship almost a month after launch, they're "ahead of schedule?" Where can I get a pair of those rose-colored glasses you're wearing?

"The guy" runs a pretty big e-tailer in UK. No matter how much you try to pin him down, he'll remain that. You can go the front page of OcUK and see for yourself.

Twisting the truth, arent you?. Just to refresh your memory up, Rollo at the time claimed ATI said that X1800 XT will not ship on launch. I asked for a link and he couldnt back his statement up. Hence FUD.

Since ATI gave the reviewers 5 Nov as the date for X1800 XT, that was the "official timeline" from ATI directly. If OcUK is indeed shipping them now, it is ahead of this official timeline.

Thanks for the insults.

You make it sound like the character "Gibbo" is new here. I've already seen couple of threads on him here on AT.

I'm not talking about the "people" involved in the thread you linked to. I just said that I hate when other forum threads are linked to. They don't really provide any useful information unless they themselves link to an article from a credible source. I didn't even bother reading any of the thread besides the first post because the rest is just banter.

I'm gonna have to agree with Zobar on this one.

Tell you what. When November 5th rolls around, and you find a few e-tailers that are actually selling XT's and not preorders, then you should post a new thread with your current title. Minus the "already" and "ahead of schedule". Of course.

You do see the absense of the words "in stock" for anything but the XL's right?

All XT's are either "pre-order" or "1 to 3 days" which DOES NOT mean in stock.

Heck, even an XL model has "pre-order" status.

Why don't you acknowledge these things?

You do see the words "Another large quantity of cards arriving Wednesday 2nd November 2005" beside the X1800 XT.

Yes, but the guy who runs the store says he shipped out X1800 XTs already.

Lets see

XL in stock: 3 (Connect3D, HIS, Sapphire)

XL on preorder: 1 (Powercolor)

You bias is as clear as day now.

You act like I said something fictional when my statement was 100% correct.

I quote:"An XL Model" (which means one, as you listed yourself)

After looking at the link, a few things come to mind. 1) There is only 1 XT that could be considered in stock. But even that really isn't in stock, since it says 1-3 days. 2) I have to doubt whether or not they will get any volume at all. For all I know, they are just saying they do to get your money on the order... 3) When it says "in stock", then you can come here. Also, it should be "in stock" at more than one location for this to have credability, in my opinion.

Yes, similarly I can go over the 7800 series page: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/7800__Series.html

Look at the AOpen model being unavailable and say "Heck, even an 7800 model has "unavailable" status. But I wouldnt do that because it would be a grossly biased (focussing on the negative aspect) statement.

They're not in stock, no matter what your frontpage link says...once again, as is your wont, you don't bother to do any research but rather just see the information you want and ignore anything contradictory. And the most common usage of 'shipping' is when it's actually being sent to customers, not retailers, hence why I believe your title is disinformation, but you can argue semantics all you want, I won't lower myself to your level. The fact is, no one has stepped forward and said they recieved it, and they don't have any for sale, so I have my doubts.

Frankly, I just don't get why you keep wanting to pat ATi on the back for another phantom launch. It's a good product and a great competitor to the GTX, but this type of paper launch should be shunned, not cheered for simply because they managed to only be 27 days late instead of 30.

*checks the date* Let's see...the 5th is Saturday, so that makes it next week.....that's early?

Personally, I call BS, but w/e (I don't think he's shipped a damn thing).

With this kind of logic one could also say why go with nVidia ?

Since they're also concerned about that problem.

"Me patting ATI's back" isnt reality. This is the first instance I've heard X1800 XT shipping and I simply posted that. I didnt claim ATI was volume shipping or X1800 XT cards were available everywhere.

Just a question Crazy, but havn't you noticed yet that you are not well received on these forums? Everywhere I look someone is refuting the FUD you are spreading. It is one thing if you made a few mistakes, but it appears everything is a mistake coming out of your mouth. No, this isn't a flame or an attack, just an objective post for you to stop, think, and take a look before you post. That applies to all of us, but some people need to have that cheat sheet posted right on their monitor to remind them everytime they post.

Yes. Inspite of being an Nvidia card owner all my life I get attacked because I refuse to "cosy-up" with other Nvidia card owners. I dont back them up blindly and hence I get no support. (I dont need it)

What FUD are you talking about? I posted this thread in the form of a question. I didnt claim ATI was volume shipping or anything else. The other half is what you guys assumed and that is the part where all the FUD comes in.

the point is your title states xt's are shipping. that's FUD, unless there's some other verification than someone just saying so...

i certainly hope they are shipping, but i haven't seen anything to make me think they are.

What's the point of even talking about this. Why get everyone all worked up over your title. How cares if they are shipping ahead of schedule. Until we have them in our hands then they are not available.

The actual title of this thread is "X1800XT already shipping" (no question mark), and then you put a comment in the 'summary' that says "ahead of schedule?". Combined with your first post (which is just a quote from OCUK saying they had shipped a few cards), this implies that you believe ATI is already shipping X1800XT cards. I think that's what people were taking objection to.

Look. If ATI is shipping cards on or slightly ahead of schedule, that's a good thing (but there isn't really any conclusive evidence of that yet, unless someone can vouch that a card they have preordered has been shipped). There's no need for everyone to get so worked up about it, or to start flinging insults or personal jabs around.

Also, if they intend to have the cards widely available on November 5th (which, being a Saturday, is kind of an odd day for a product launch, but I digress), they will need to have some in stock at various retailers at least a couple days before that (ie, around the middle of next week). They would probably be starting to ship them either at the end of this week or the beginning of next week (keep in mind they'd be using ground shipping, not air mail), so I would expect a few to be trickling into the retail channel.
