No. I have not allready decided on the 7900 GT. And I have not ignored every ATI post either. I have read every one. But why post a reply to anything when all the arguing is going on....? It will more than likely not get replied too. And now since the X1800 series is being phased out......honestly...IMO what would be the point of getting one because within a couple months time Ill be going dual card . What if there are no XT's or Mastercards to purchase then unless they are at extreme prices? I would be willing to accept a little speed loss and get a card to where down the road I could go dual, and it not be too expensive....As of this moment, I am still undecided.

good luck OP whatever card you decide, be it 7900GT or X1800XT or even a X1900, you'll be a winner

I'll bet you, you'll never see that comment from the fanATIcs

Why exactly do you plan on going dual later on? I think most ppl have realized by now that when your old card doesnt cut it anymore, the better choice is to sell it and get a newer faster card, instead of getting a second old card.

What does that mean? Nvidiots are better than fanATIc's? Both are still biased and contribute to arguing.

OP, I'd go for the X1800 if you want your games to look the best and perform pretty evenly with the 7900. The 7900 probably has an edge in performance in some titles, but not by much. If you're really wanting to spend more money on DX9 down the road, get the 7900 as it probably will be easier to combine.

Well since prey is coming out July (quake wars soon), i suggest the 7900GT as NV cards perform better and show better IQ in openGL titles.

i think someone suggested the signature series evga 7900gt....and i think thats a terrible idea. The main reason one would buy the 7900gt is it is a prime card for overclocking YOURSELF. You pay them $30 extra to overclock it for you and then you cant overclock it anymore becasue they leave absolutely no room. In my case, with the games I play right now, (i dont play oblivion) i would be set with something like a 7600gt, but i decided on the x1800xt myself. This was basd on the fact that it is a little less expensive and i don't think i'm gonna overclock it. (ill overclock my cpu though) I think the x1800xt is a great value so that gets my vote but like i think ST said, you'll be happy with either card, so pick one. (I chose the less expensive route)

He's not saying people shouldn't modify their 7900GT's, he's just suggesting the hidden costs of doing it make it a better value to just spend an extra $20 more for the better card (X1900) and keep the warranty.

Whether you agree or disagree with it, is it that hard to comprehend?

He's not being a hypocrite. What he did to his card actually isn't relevant to this thread.

what a discussion. nice job OP. greatly entertaining thread. not vewry informative but entertaining.

to everyone who's bashing each other. WHY.
did ati/nvidia buy you gift or something. also OP why don't you try a very vry famous website called google and search for some benchmarks. look at whats better in the ga,es you like. ultimatly there both awesome cards and your lucky to be rich enough to buy either. personally i voted for the 1800xt cuz of HQ-AF and AVIVO (HDR+AA too ofcourse)

the whole reason he posted this thread is becasue he didn't want to use google...kinda defeats the purpose of a forum.
