Remember products newly released typically carry a premium until the product has reached stocking levels and the price gouging starts to come down. AMD X2s anyone?

The Answer.

Wow, Creig, you think there is anyone on the planet who can't figure out that the price of most computer goods goes down as time passes?

What TGS posted had no relation at all to the question, so it can't be the answer.

Like I said, the reasons I posted this are:

1. Other poll mirepresented price of linked 7800GT by not including rebate

2. Other poll compared OEM to retail packaging

3. Other poll only considered pricing at the vendor X1800XL was cheapest at

4. Other poll didn't use the cheapest 7800GT at that vendor, but did use cheapest X1800XL

5. Other poll used a brand name that has negative connotations for some here

So tell me Creig, which of my five reasons is "Teh X1800XL is expensive because it was just launched!" the "answer" to? How does it relate at all to any of these five reasons I made this thread- I'm sure we're all interested to know why you thought it would be a good idea to pop in and say "Things are expensive at first!" and that this is "the answer"?

BTW- it's not nVidias fault ATI made you all wait for a 7800GT competitor. Are we supposed to assume the X1800XL will always cost more because that is the case?

Your "answer" only confirms the fact that the X1800XL is a really bad deal.

When the 7800GTs came out there really wasn't any fantastic deals, or MIRs to be had. Same thing with the X1800XL. Give it time, and the deals will start to pan out. Don't tell me you found a 339 AMIR GT at release. Comparing the release price, and if the X1800XL price doesn't drop accordingly, I'll be grabbing a GT. I'm big on building computers for the best bang for the buck. Heck, I waited a while to nab a 6800GT at $400, because at release the price was way too high for what I was getting. I actually pulled the trigger earlier than I wanted, because I fried my 9700pro. I wasn't disappointed with the purchase and I doubt I will be if the prices on the GTs continue to drop. You have to admit the 3Dfuzion card is a spectacular deal, that no other manufacturer comes *close* to. I would say that makes it the exception and not the rule for pricing.

Don't you do any research before posting? Or are you just relying on everone else to do it for you.... It has been around since the FX series. Link

Use those keystrokes for something other than trolling for a change.

I personally wouldn't buy the 3DFuzion brand. The 1-year warranty doesn't cut it for me.

That said, this isn't the first sub-300 7800GT deal. You could have gotten the BFG OC version from Dell for as low as $290 a couple weeks ago as well. I paid $330 and don't regret it one bit.

There are plenty of cards in the $329 - $349 price range and now they are including full retail versions of several games as well. Can't beat it.

EDIT: The Dell deal is on again - it is $314 after $30 off coupon and a rebate from BFG. I'd be all over that if I needed another 7800GT.

I completely agree, though I'm still of the opinion that newly released products always cost more and I can accept that. Now for my system, it will be getting a 7800GT with the current pricing on competing products.

It was a rhetorical question. I already know the answer. It's not a trusted brand name. Most have never heard of it before this 7800GT deal.

True, but I have never found a retail package that I was actually going to play. The video card I purchased for my father came with Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and then some other game where you are a middle eastern warrior running around killing stuff. Anyway, both games didn't appeal to me, so I didn't feel I recieved anything special over the OEM white box.

I am sure many others enjoy those games though.

So because most people here on this forum have not heard of it, means it is untrusted? Besides I do not believe you, due to the fact that you answered your own question with "One month"? Meaning, that you only thought this brand existed for one month, when Keys pointed out that it existed for a few years. So, basically, I think you are trying to cover up your lack of research.

I think Morph's o so great x1800 XL is getting pwned.

And don't give some line of bull about being neutral and fair because anyone with half a brain can see that the 7800 GT is a better card at a better price.

I already admitted that the GT at $290 AR was the better buy, so long as:

1) You are not a stickler for image quality and
2) You don't mind buying a low-ball, no-name brand

Eventually the street prices on these cards will be around the same and at that point, seems to me the XL will be the choice for many people. So let's revisit this poll in a month or two.

The brand has a name, it is called 3D Fuzion.

Ronin, not fair. Because I have few posts here doesn't mean I am a noob.
The clamp option solves the problem for the 6800 family. For the 7800 family, you need the driver 78.03, HQ and the Negative Lod Bias=>Clamp.

That improves the shimmering but it does not eliminate it.

But it is a matter of fact that those blind to the shimmering cannot accept that other people do have a problem with it.

What the eyes don't see the heart doesn't feel.....

Ohhh... Eastern Mysticism! Anyway, I can confirm the shimmering. It doesn't bother me much, mostly because my vision is fixed on closer things in the 3D world rather than things waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back that no one looks at. Granted, the shimmering is a problem and it needs to be fixed. nVidia has lost quite a bit of respect from me (not that they care, they are going to make money anyway) due to leaving this shimmering issue unfixed. It has been since the release of the cards nearly 4-5 months ago. The shimmering does bother a lot of people and I can certainly understand.

You created an opinion poll and I posted my opinion. Actually, I simply agreed with somebody ELSE'S opinion. If you don't like it... sorry. Maybe next time you can add a subheading of "Only post if you're going to agree with me 100%" so people could be forewarned.

Quit yer spinnin. Obviously you did not know the answer and I'll quote you: "It's been around for what, all of a month or so?". Still think you knew the answer already? It's not an "untrusted" brand name either is it... Not hearing of a brand is a good thing. especially since it's been around for about
2 to 3 years now, I have heard no complaints nor seen any negative postings about them, unless of course we include your spin on them.

I think you're done here. You must be exhausted from all this trolling. Why don't you take a break for a few months.

I think it's the value brand for BFG. Hence it should be good quality however it may be the case they use all the best o/c'ing chips for BFG OC cards and put the lesser ones in Fuzion cards.

Arch,
The issue on Word of Warcraft is that the shimmering happens not far away, but very near your character, on the ground around it. That's why it is noticeable.

It is not OK for me also to be waiting for a solution after 4 months. If there is an EFFECTIVE solution, please Nividia bring it on.

LOL, and Rollo will accept a fact when it's given to him. And does not fib in video. Morph pulls things out of his you know what. Almost every post he makes can be smacked down with facts easily. Almost too easily. He even occaisonally posts a link that goes against his own arguments. Pretty hilarious. Morph and Turtle 1 got along marvelously. That should tell you everything you need to know 'bout him.

Oh, I forgot to mention Creig. Sorry Creig, didn't mean to leave you out.
How is this rude? Morph is a known troll, (one of the biggest) and why should it not be said so? Morph either lied, or did not do his research and commented claiming to know what he was talking about, which to me, is the same as lying. Called him on that.
Told him he must be exhausted from trolling so much, and to take a break for a few months, which is a nice way to say "Leave and don't come back".

Nothing rude about the posts when you take it in context. Which you didn't. And pretty much never do.

Have a look at this 'ol buddy. Nobody started anything but you in this linked thread. Just you. In that thread, you deserved the "respect" you received. In this current thread, Morph was one of the first to crap short of N7. He gets the respect a thread crapper should get.
