Ok, more needs to be said. Have you frequented the HD forums? People have posted about TD excluding upc numbers or hiding things to invalidate rebates. They post rebates that sometimes do not apply to the products without a purchase of another product, yet they still include the markdown in the buy price. They are very crafty, and I personally will never buy from TD or Preordrer from TD. Sure, if there are great deals w/o any rebates to them, I would buy, but anything with a rebate, I don't have the patience to deal with.

If this were a newegg deal, then the rebate would be good. But Tiger Direct and Rebate do NOT belong in the same sentence, no matter how you put it.

My point is that people seek out reseller more to complain than praise- you're taking revenge on the guy you didn't get your way with. I don't have time to give out positive to guys who do it right, I make time for guys who do it wrong.

Look at how many reviews dell has, just over 1000 so results might be skewed because of the small sample. Tiger Drect has nearly 3x as many reviews and people like newegg and zzf have over 8000.

Well even if we ignore the rebate, a $70 difference is quite substantial given that the cheaper priced card actually performs better than the more expensive one. The only people that would consider paying $70 more are ones that are short on common sense. But since it's been pointed out that this isn't a TD coupon, I see no reason to exclude the rebate.

Key word "average". Not all. Absolute lowest price for XL is 389.00. And once again Todd only looks 2 feet in front of him at 350 and never bothers to see the lower priced cards.

A lot of [H] goers are convinced that later driver releases will push the X1800XL beyond the 7800GT. Of course, they come to this conclusion based solely on ATi's OpenGL tricks with Doom3.

Now, I wish I shared the same enthusiasm as some ATi fans, because if the X1800XL (or the entire series for that matter) can compete with the 7800 line, dollar for dollar, frame for frame, then we win. Unfortunately, I already bought that very same 7800GT we're all referring to; not to mention I plan on seeing that $30 rebate in "6-8months."

I note several people in the link you posted say the same? I don't doubt their rebates are less reliable than some;however, without the rebate it's still $70 cheaper?

Well you don't have to take the TigerDirect deal. I wouldn't.

The BFG and eVGA cards are getting cheaper by the day... and more games and extras being bundled as well as the lifetime warranties.

Either way you get a retail package, quite probably with a few games, for less than an X1800XL bare card.

Maybe a fool who puts a high priority on image quality. Anyway, I do agree that the XL is not a good value right now compared to the GT, but then again it's only been out for what? 2 weeks?

What I'm wondering is what tRollo hoped to accomplish with this thread. The GT was already winning by a comfortable margin in the last poll. Doesn't look like anything has changed much with this new poll.

Clearly you didnt bother to read my earlier post (rather than claiming TD rebates are reliable) where I already stated that $70 difference is still a huge one. You are waiting for a Tigerdirect rebate if you want an explanation for that.

Though I don't think this second poll was particularly necessary, I do believe the other poll was lopsided to pit a fairly high priced GT (and leaving out the rebate) against the lowest price XL. That being said, trolling the thread won't make the XL any better of a value, ATi fanboys. Plus the FEAR article from this morning definitely put aside my last doubts, as the ATi lead disappeared and the XL is definitely slower than the GT now at all settings. ATi better start putting some serious volume out to compete pricewise, because although prices have dropped, they have to maintain a steady supply to see the prices the GT has.

Nah, it doesn't have to beat the GT's price because it's got better image quality.
In fact, to compare these cards fairly you'd need to use the 'very high' quality mode on the GT which would most likely put it behind the XL in performance in most cases.
