Hi I jsut got my x1800xt and did a little overclocking on it. I got it to 675core/800mem but it runs a little hot under load (75-80 degrees). Is there a way I can permanently st the fan speed, it works under overclocker.exe but i have to set the fan speed everytime i turn on the comp.

I use ATI Tool on my X800 GTO. You can set the fan speeds and can program ATI Tool to load via your registry and close as soon as your settings are loaded.

click on the settings button in the bottom right hand corner of ATItool, then click and drop down menu and select fan control, then click the circle beside "Fixed Percentage". if ur OCing set that percantage to 100%. then click the drop down menu and go to startup. click the OC profile u wanna load at startup then select load on startup via windows registry key

Use dynamic fan speed control in ATI Tool. That way you can enjoy both quiet (when at the desktop) and high performance cooling (in games).

I would highly suggest you purchase an Artic Cooling Accelro X2 cooler for the card. I run mine @ 100% all the time, and it's dead silent. My card idles @ 43C and load runs under 65C.

Do you have a pretty good case cooling setup? I am using an Antec SuperLanboy which is a small midtower with a single 120mm intake and (2) 120mm exhaust fans. I hardly noticed a difference in temps, less then 1-2C according to MBM5. I honestly think that the small (if any) increase in heat is well worth the now silent computing enviroment.
