anyways, it would really depend on applications. Crossfire is the faster solution but is also less mature, more prone to bugs etc. less game will run on it.

For the OP, I don't know that I would go and spend the money on a GX2 or CF setup right now with nV's new card just around the corner. Rumors say it's 20% faster than the GX2. That is sure to drop the price of the GX2 very soon (and likely the ATI high-end cards as well).
