X1900GT or 7900GT?

Get X1800XT or higher, unless you are crazy for games like serious sam 2 and are willing to play that game without AA, to tell you one thing that game forced me to use AA at 10X7 even on a 6600GT due to its jaggeries.

X1800XT here is a good deal 50% more expensive than the two cards mentioned.

I went with the X1900GT and am happy with it. But I was able to get a better deal on it than a X1800XT 256 or a 7900GT (in the US) so that factored into my decision. And it's considerably less than a X1800XT 512 here, like there. I considered the 7900GT more when I saw EVGA had new ones out that might fix the problems some of them are having. But since I got my GT I've already seen at least one guy with probs with a new EVGA.

Both are equal at stock it depends on what type of games you play and what features you like

7900GT. they are quiet and nice.

better drivers IMO.

At stock speeds the 7900GT is generally faster. It also has more overclocking potential. Otherwise the cards are pretty close and I'm sure you would enjoy either one equally. Does one have a better warranty or software bundle over the other?

not the gt version, the xt have higher clocks, and I believe more pixel pipes, but don't quote me on that.

i'd get an x1800xt before the x1900gt.

the ati cards have superior texture filtering over nvidia, which is a big deal for me, but when directly comparing the 1900gt to 7900gt, the nvidia part is the better overall performer, and likely has more overclocking potential if you wish to take advantage.

X1800XT does WAY better than X1900GT in serious sam 2

Otherwise, the X1900GT seems to perform between the X1800XL and X1800XT. It's also possible to unlock 4 more pipes in the X1900GT in some models. That might boost it to performance comparible to the X1800XT.

The X1800 XT 256 seems only barely better then the X1900 GT.

7900GT. Both the 7900GT and the X1800XT is faster than the X1900GT.

The X1900GT has 12 TMUs also.

I suggest the 7900GT as its a overall better performer.
