If you have good airflow in your case, then the VGA cooler with exhaust down't matter much (if at all). In fact Maximum PC got a question from a reader about this issue, and they referred the question to Arctic Cooling which said that during product development they discovered that the exhaust feature (like the one on their silencer models) only reduces the case temp by 1-2C, and even less if the case has good airflow. So that's why decided to go without an exhaust for the Accelero products. Bottom line is that Accelero has the best cooling/noise results of any VGA cooler, so it's a very solid performer.

Temps are around 5c cooler then the stock cooler, but the fan is dead silent. The only downfall is that the heatsink on the pwm ic gets no airflow so it limits gpu overclocks a bit. The memory chips dont make full contact since they're oriented differently but that hasnt affected the memory overclock.

Let us know how long it takes to fry your memory with that setup, thanks!

The memory gets warm to the touch but thats it, and i have plenty of airflow thanks to a pair of 120mm fans.
Besides, the samsung max temp for these memory chips is 125C. And it was nowhere near that.

True that, the IceQ3 cooler on my HIS card is a beast, the air it pushes out amazes me.

What kind of temps are you seeing with that his cooler?

You could actually probably mod it so that it would pull air from around there. The ICEQ cooler on the HIS card has small openings under the fan to do just that.

Ya i just saw how that cooler has the whole bottom portion missing under the fan, will give it a shot soon.

What card did they use to test though? A 7900GT at stock speeds or an overclocked X1900XT or possibly even SLI/Crossfire. To make matters worse, their new Accelero HSFs dump the hot air right on the motherboard, which I don't think I need to tell you is bad. At the very least it makes it more difficult for even a case with good airflow to dissipate the heat, and if you have even just one or two other cards (sound or maybe a TV tuner) it could cause problems with them (TV tuners get pretty hot themselves).

I just don't see what they were thinking when doing the Acceleros. They even admit that it exhausting air out of the case does offer a quatifiable improvement. There was plenty of ways they could've improved the Silencers (all copper with heatpipes for instance).

Well, I got the card, but it was DOA. Locked up on any 3d game. I did get to hear the lawn mower that it comes with. DEFINATELY not good. Never had a 5800 ultra, but this thing is a definate dust buster sounding cooler. So card is on RMA right now.

Also SVC send me a CPU cooler rather than the V1.....so it too is RMA. I will update as soon as I get working hardware.
