My mem can barely get above 830 without artifacting with ATI Tool. I don't understand why 1.1ns RAM can't even hit it's rated speeds of 900 MHz, while 1.4ns RAM like those on the 7900GT can hit 900 MHz easily . . .

VGPU: 1.4V
MVDDC: 2.102V
MVDDQ: 2.102V
VDDCI: 1.486

What's the purpose of flashing it to another core? I can see when you're trying to unlock pipes but the only difference between an XT and XTX are the factory settings. Yes, I know the XTXs might be cherry picked, but I don't see what flashing the BIOS could buy you. Explain, please

Also, I was just running at 675, with 682 "requested" by the auto config and my computer crashed, at 75ºC. I take it I should up my voltage by 0.025 and try it again?

For most it doesn't matter, but for some strange reason my XT couldn't clock very high without the bios flash.

Running rock solid now at 680/820. Voltage is at 1.475, which I hope is ok. My temps stay under 80ºC, which is almost 10ºC less than it's been for the last month. I don't know why ATI has the stock fan running so slow unless you mess with it in ATI Tool.

With that, do you guys think I'm safe at 1.475v and 1.202v on the memory with the stock cooler, as long as I'm under 80ºC?

Thanks!

Ok, just ran 3DMark05 with my 680/820 and my score DROPPED 1500 points down to 9800. What gives? I checked ATI Tool and it said I was running at 680/820. Even at stock speeds I get over 10,000.

screen turned off at 670 on stock voltages

every time ati tool increased the clock i would get a line of corruption going across the screen. anyone else get this?

i also get a full screen of corruption between BIOS and windows screen, which isn't there with XP x64.

According to Mad Shrimps, setting the VDCCI to 1.58v should help increase the mem overclocks but it did nothing for me. Sigh, looks like my XT doesn't overclock too well mem-wise. The core looks okay though, 725 MHz @ 1.5v isn't that bad.

I get that corruption between BIOS and windows sometimes. Actually there was a thread on it the other day. Alotof folks get it most seemed to think it was the Cat 6.4 drivers as those with the 6.3's didn't seem to get it.

I just flashed mine with an XTX bios and called it a day. I know it wont do much more than that at stock voltage, and increased voltage would require watercooling.

X1900XT flashed @XTX and W/Ced

stock voltages : 692/781

With vgpu= 1.550V and VDDCI=maxed and some specific mem voltages that hipro5 posted @XS I can do 730/825 but of course I don't use these for gaming , only for benching..
I do have problems with mem o/c too as you can see.. I ran @XTX speeds for 24/7 unless I want to play a demanding game and use 1.5 vpgu and vddci 1.5 as well to do 700/797(using stock mem voltages)..

My X1900XT goes to 675/800 with dynamic fan settings and 700/800 when fan is at 100%, all on stock voltages. It might go higher than that (especially the memory, I stopped pushing it when it hit 800 and concentrated on the core) but I stopped reaching higher when I reached 700/800. Haven't yet tested higher than that, but I'm thinking of adding Accelero X2 to the card and test some more, the stock HSF is just too loud at 100%. I need better cooling with less noise, would Accelero at full power give same amount of cooling that stock HSF at 100% but be still quiet?

Obviouslt the gpu throttles for overheating safety, try lower clocks..

This may be old or incorrect news (as I'm not much of an OC'er), but doesn't ATI tool obtain higher RAM clocks by loosening the timing?

I heard that it's the other OC methods like the Ati overclocker and overdrive that loosen mem timings, no Atitool.

after reading SL's thread with the 450 watt silverstone, i'm taking a guess that my overclocking is limited by my S12-430. which, while a good power supply, might not be able to keep up with a dual opteron and the x1900xt+ overclocked. ah well. all is fine at stock speeds.

i am also curious what other systems setup with their OC'd X1900XT are running in terms of : PSU, CPU Freq., others.

See sig for clocks. The card was running at 1.525/2.2/2.2/1.5 for the voltages and hits ~42C under load.

I'm using a 520W Powerstream for those interested.

The only thing I don't get is I have an Antec P180 case with three 120mm fans with beautiful airflow and I still can't get my X1900XT under 87ºC under load. I even mounted a 120mm fan under the X1900XT blowing air up on it full blast and that's doing zilch.

Any last minute ideas? I'm thinking of maybe running the OC via CCC and dropping the voltage a tad bit in ATITools to see if that can drop the temp a tad. I see there are two voltage adjustments in ATITools. Do I only adjust the top, or which one(s)?

Here's my current scores with the above overclock on a 2.2ghz Opteron 165: 05 - 11269 06 - 5893

Thanks!

Watercool it..

I run mine at 775MHz on the core and 850MHz on the memory. I'm using an Alphacool NexXxos NVXP-3 ATi VPU block, two Black Ice Rads (Xtreme 2 and Xtreme rev 2), two pumps being the Eheim 1250 & Swiftech MCP650. My CPU is cooled by a Swiftech MCW5002-64T (Thermo Electric cooler) giving me stable subzero temps (-10C under load).

So yeah... watercool the sucker..

does ATi(Gecube in particular) give warranty on overclocking, if I set my speeds as per overdrive auto detect standards, then do i loose my warranty?
