X1900XT owners: How high are you overclocked?

Curious to see how high you guys were able to get your X1900XTs and what method of tweaking you went about? Right now I'm running mine at 660/770 and holding steady at 87ºC. I run the HDR demo full screen at 1600x1200 for 15 minutes, then jump out to Windows to check what the ATI program is registering the temperature at. There's a 2-3 second delay getting back into Windows but that's the only way I have of knowing.

Also, how important is it to overclock the memory on these cards, or is it better to focus on the core?

Thanks!

EDIT: I'm still on stock voltage as well. How high can I take it without taking a chance?

Not really. I think most guys run theirs around 90ºC.

Are you from Ohio? I'm in Columbus now but grew up near Youngstown.

GO TRIBE!

Is that with stock cooling mazeroth? And I'd say overclocking the memory make almost as much of an impact as overclocking the core. Just make sure you have proper cooling, I would not be comfortable running my video card near 90C.

I never ran that program before but am doing so right now and see it's a great way to monitor the temperature. I'm at 4 minutes into the run and I'm at 88ºC. My CPU is 39, PWM IC 48, and chipset is 52.

Well, I ran it twice and both times it froze my computer up at 669mhz on the core while the memory was still at 720mhz. I think this happens around 6-7 minutes into the run. The temperature was going between 88-89ºC the whole time, even up to 669mhz. Does this mean I need to up my voltage? I didn't see an option to do that so could you guys tell me where it's at? Also, what "should" I be able to OC this baby to?

Thanks!

Use ATi Tool to overclcok but read up on it before increasing voltages because ou might kill your card.

With my X1900XT, I can get
Note: 1.4v is the nominal (stock, standard, default) 3d voltage for the X1900XT(X) cards.

770Mhz @1.55v (bench stabe but thats about it)
750MHz @1.525v (100% stable just a little hot)
725MHz @1.425v (Good comprimise between maximum performance and heat output. I run this speed 24/7)
700MHz @1.35v (Awsome OC becuase its at 0.05v less than standard stock voltage.)
650MHz @1.325v (XTX speed)
625MHz @1.3v (XT speed with 0.1v less than stock voltage)

Cooling for my XT is provided by an ultra customized Thermalright V1 Setup. For more info, see my sig for my project logs.

690 watercooled here. It never breaks 45c.

I would go higher but I haven't had time to play with ATI tool so I'm stuck at the CCC panel limit.

I get 78*C @ 650\1550

@ 1.35 volts... I'm gonna try 1.325 and see if I get any heat improvement.

I've tried Ocing beyond xtx speeds (I bought an XT) but depending on the game, my OC is stable. COD2 and FEAR put a huge strain on my card... other games fare much better.

Well, I have her running stable at 660/1580, which is + 10/30 over XTX speeds so I can't complain. The only thing I don't get is I have an Antec P180 case with three 120mm fans with beautiful airflow and I still can't get my X1900XT under 87ºC under load. I even mounted a 120mm fan under the X1900XT blowing air up on it full blast and that's doing zilch.

Any last minute ideas? I'm thinking of maybe running the OC via CCC and dropping the voltage a tad bit in ATITools to see if that can drop the temp a tad. I see there are two voltage adjustments in ATITools. Do I only adjust the top, or which one(s)?

Here's my current scores with the above overclock on a 2.2ghz Opteron 165: 05 - 11269 06 - 5893

Thanks!

Are you running the stock cooler at 100%? At load 650/775 @ 1.35v w/ stock cooler at 100% in my P180, I get a max temp of 65c.

I have tested my XT at 700 core 800 ram, ran smooth and stable for hours on end with the RTHDRIBL and the temps stay below 80, ussually they are ~ 75c. I run the card at XTX setting, there really is no reason for me to run at max CCC settings yet, also I use no volt increases, I dont want to kill the card.
at max settings and an AMD 3500+ @2.47 I get 10702 in 3Dmark '05

Blowing a fan directly under the card won't do anything. The whole heatsink is closed off, it gets cool air from the back and blows it throught the enclosed copper fins. If I were you I'd check out some 3rd part heatsinks. The Thermalright V1 Ultra is the top performer, but the Accelero X2 is a good HS for the money.

I've got my X1900XT flashed to XTX at 700/783 with these voltages:

VGPU: 1.4V
MVDDC: 2.102V
MVDDQ: 2.102V
VDDCI: 1.486

Wow, I just figured something out! Looking at ATITool 0.25 Beta under fan control my X1900XT was only running at 50% fan speed up to 90ºC. I just upped it to run at 100% fan speed full-time to test the ATI CCC Auto Clock Config and right now I'm at 675mhz and a cool 75ºC!

I'll take some time later on to figure out quieter fan speeds and whatnot but this is GREAT news for now!

What's the purpose of flashing it to another core? I can see when you're trying to unlock pipes but the only difference between an XT and XTX are the factory settings. Yes, I know the XTXs might be cherry picked, but I don't see what flashing the BIOS could buy you. Explain, please

Also, I was just running at 675, with 682 "requested" by the auto config and my computer crashed, at 75ºC. I take it I should up my voltage by 0.025 and try it again?

OK here is a dumb question for ya, is your opty that much better than my 3500+ @ 2.47? I see that I have double the ram you have and it is corsair value select 3200 and we have the same card yet your 05 score is alot higher than mine, man what gives?

Running 725/1660 right now with 1.5v core voltage. At 1.475v core voltage I would get freezes/crashes with ATI Tool and 3Dmark05 . . .

Dual Core is worth a few hundred in 3dMark06. I wouldn't worry about it...

I'm better off than I thought. Stock voltage running 650/800 without a problem. Guess I got some decent memory. I was just OC'ing with CCC (which caps memory OC at 800), so I figured there was more headroom. I'm probably pretty close to the max anyway.
