I went to pick up a x1900 all-in-wonder at 50% off at the Syracuse COMPUSA and just happened to ask if they had anything faster left. Much to my surprise, tucked away in a locked room with the laptops were some x1900xtx's for 200 bucks. There were no displays and nothing on the floor that would tell anyone that they had these cards. If you're in the Syracuse area and need a card, it might be worth asking about. For 200 beans, this card rocks (even if it is quite loud).

Buy them all and sell them for $300 shipped. You make a nice profit and whoever buys the card also gets a very good deal.

Pick one (XTX) up and sell it to me for $250, seriously.
Is this store shutting down its door forever?

Compusa's site is down at this moment, but somewhere on their site you can see a list of closeout items at your local stores.

edit:

"How much was the x1900 AIW?"

half of $249.98 (still $199.98 at stores still open)

"Is this store shutting down its door forever?"
"is Syracuse one of the CompUSA locations going out of business and to be shut down?"

Go to Store Locations then pick your area to get to local stores and they have a link for each store "See this store's listing of blowout items."

The AIW was supposedly 125 according to the guy I talked with but it shows as 200 regular price at the website so it probably should have been 100.

okay, op is answering questions, so i will edit

no, because when the closing started, the price was $249.98 for the aiw 1900
the x1800xt had gone to $249.98 elsewhere (edit: or even less), but we still had to pay the 40% off of $299.98 because that was the price when the liquidators took over
tower records' liquidators are doing the same thing (imo)

Syracuse is shutting down for good. I was there not a half hour ago. They still had plenty of the 1900 AIW but I didn't ask about the 1900xtx's to see if they're still in stock. Video cards still listed at 50% off.

When they first started shutting down they kept an empty x1900xtx box out on the shelf that said to see customer service for the product. The empty box disappeared off the shelf at about 30% off and I figured I missed my shot. Maybe somebody local is keeping them out of sight in the hope they get even further down and is planning to grab a bunch for ebay or something.

I'm not 100% sure what they have. Only 1900 AIWs are out in a case (other than lower end cards which they still have quite a few of). I'm not sure what's tucked away in the 'laptop room' other than one guy did menion that the fastest Nvidia cards they had were gone.

As a starting point, you could go to COMPUSA.com to be sure that they carry the card normally (I'm not sure that COMPUSA carries the card generally in the first place).

Sure they're outdated, but isn't that cheap?

The pricing is not the same at all stores. Essentially, a liquidator bought all inventory from any given store at some point, locking in the price of the items. Discounts are taken off the locked-in price at each store.

For isntance, the Lombard, IL store inventory was locked about 2 months ago and the Naperville store was locked two weeks later. The shelf tag for the 3 drive SATAII enclosure was $60 at Naperville but $120 at Lombard. The 50% off is from the shelf tag at the time of the lock.

Compusa.com prices mean nothing since the inventory is no longer that of Compusa but rather the liquidator.

Also, don't be suprised if items "dissappear" quickly at any point since I think some liquidators are consolidating things to one central store in an area (Lomabrd, IL for instance for any store within aboout 30 miles). This gives them one more cahnce to sell inventory rather than lower the price again. This is pure speculation, but I saw the Geneva store shipping their clearance games to Lombard before the closings were announced.

Good luck,
EH

I went back and picked up the last x1900xtx. I'm going to try my hand at ebay to sell it off (there was an auction there that ended at 320 last night for the same card). They must have also either shipped out or sold off the 1900 AIWs. There were probably 15-20 last night and none this morning in the glass case.

Yesterday I got a AIW w1900 for $125.00 at the Indusrty strore. Did not see ant others but they did have several 6800GS and 1900XTX. I think the GS were $90 and the XTX $175.

And they still had lots of older Nvidia and ATI cards on the shelves and in the case.

But my best deal is the 42" HP plasma I got when the sale first started for $1260. Same as the Panasonic TH-PX600U, just the name change. They still have some good deals on some nice TV's there.
