is there anywhere in the US where you can buy the HIS 512mb w/ ICEQ cooling? would there be any problems with warranty if i live in US but buy from UK?

also, how long is this card? ive got a XFX 6800GT in my case and it is a close fit...i got about a 1/2" from the end of the card to the case. so how much longer/shorter is this than the 6800gt

also as far as power supplies...this is what ive got:

a64 4000+, 4 case fans...all stock...all 80mm...one CPU fan (80mm i believe) high flow, 1x 10k raptor 74gb, 1x dvd-rw, 2x 20mm fans for the cooling bay for HDD, running a g15 keyboard and ipaw dock from USB...thats about it i think

right now ive got the 500wt PSU that came with the case...i forget the brand...but ive also got a 480wt enermax that is pretty nice...i cant think of the model# and i'm too lazy to look, lol

edit:

also is the reboot problem only with saphires? thanks

How's it going Journer. No HIS 512MB cards in the US yet, but they're probably coming soon.

The X1950 Pro's are a hair over 9" in length.

Sorry, can't give you any answer abouth the Power Supplies. We would need more detail. Model?

I really would like to know if it is worth the time waiting for the 1950XT? I want a 512MB card as I do alot of high res, high quality gaming. Any word on the 1950XT and if it is going to be 512 MB.

I would say so, it's hard to imagine a high end card like that only being availible with 256mb....but the real question is are the rumors true?

ouch ... looks like only Sapphire ... which is the only brand - so far - with 512MB vRAM

i haven't seen anything like it ... cold, warm, hot ... starts up completely normally with no delay whatsoever or any issues at all

i wonder if these are all the *same batch* --mine would probably be the 2nd.

but, thanks for the head's up!

i know i have 2 years warranty ... so far so good

Not much on X1950XT, apart from what some bloke reported from CES.
Allegedly Powercolor have one in the works, but no-one knows much else atm
I would assume it would be 512mb though.

Diamond and HIS also make a X1950 Pro AGP / 512MB

My Sapphire also works perfectly, no issues at all. I'm also using a Enermax with 36a on combined 12v+ rails.

How's it going Alex. I'm the one who posted that info. Looks like it may have been an error by the reviewer. On another website someone enlarged the photo of the "x1950XT" in the glass case, and it was actually a X1950 Pro. I think the Reviewer mixed up his X1950 cards.

It is going well, thank you; yourself?

Well, I really would like a X1950XT, the extra 4 pipes will make a difference, but I will settle for a X1950Pro. It will surely aweke my system and the M needs more VPU power to go along with it, other than the X850XT PE.

Ok, it's now across the pond. NewEgg has the HIS X1950 Pro 512MB card up....for $339..which is more expensive than getting it shipped from the UK at the moment. Also, the description is wrong, but the part number is correct. They have the 256MB version listed for $279.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161069

And another X1950 Pro has made it across the pond, Gecube 256MB - in-stock - at NewEgg for $239

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814241041

Think I'm done with these posts now, it looks like the X1950 Pros are going to be everywhere soon.

just got my sapphire x1950pro 512mb today. runs like a dream. havent tried overclocking at all(why even try?) but do use ATItool to control the fan. installed the latest omega drivers based on the 7.1 catalysts. ran 3dmark03,05 and 06. in 05 i encountered what was a small artifact taht came back repeatedly. thats when i opened ATItool and noticed the card was going 70C+ when it was running on load. ATItool showed me that the card is setup to run the fan at 41% until it reaches like 65C which is ridiculous! so i adjusted the fans to run in a way that keeps them from reaching 100% but also keeps the gpu temp under 75. and voila no more artifacting even after 2 straight hours of 3dmark06 and company of heroes on full graphic settings. my psu was never an issue to worry about even with my setup. the card idles at 50C. and the fan stays 50% at idle.

3dmark03: 15476
3dmark05: 8794
3dmark06: 4830

oh and just for reference heres the 3dmark scores for my overclocked 7800gs (470/1400).

3dmark03: 15239
3dmark05: 6991
3dmark06: 3651

eh...just found my first huge error...dunno if its game related or the card...was playing Black and White 2:Battle of the Gods and the game was running perfectly with no artifacts at full settings then the gmae suddenly just shut off. no error report or anything. just turned off. and went to my desktop like i exited the game. i tried lowering the resolution to see if maybe i was over-stressing the card and the game did the exact same thing. in both instances the card never went over 70C so its not overheating. maybe its a power issue? but wouldnt there be an error report if there was? the way the game is crashing i have no idea whts going on. no other game has done this. not even FEAR.

If FEAR is running OK, it's likely a software/game/card issue and NOT a hardware issue. If I can come up with anything I'll let you know.

Just found this, .....did you download the patch yet??

What's not so good about the game?
Out of the box the game isn't very stable and crashes back to the Windows desktop are frequent. However, a patch weighing in at 106MB was available almost immediately, which solved the problem and you are highly advised to install this before beginning a game as it will make your saved games unusable (the patch does give you fair warning of this before installation). Having played through the first couple of levels I was slightly disappointed to learn that the patch that would fix the crashes, would also lose my progress in the game. However once the game was patched the crashing problem was solved.

Black & White 2 is a real system hog and on running the game with an AMD 64 3200 with an ATI X800XT and 1GB RAM the game isn't as smooth as it could be. The cutscenes were choppy for me and load times were rather lengthy. I managed to borrow an extra 1GB of RAM for a few hours and noticed that with 2GB of RAM load times and the general smoothness of the game was significantly improved. Whilst the game packaging states only 512MB of RAM are needed to run the game, I wouldn't advise playing the game with anything less than 1 GB. The game itself, whilst being an improvement on the original Black & White, does feature a fair amount of repetition and whilst you usually have a choice of whether to be a benevolent or malevolent god it's usually a lot more time consuming to be take the benevolent route. Finally there is no multiplayer game this time around which will disappoint those who were looking to use their creatures to battle online like you could in Black & White.

some users report *issues* with Sapphire and a warm reboot ... might need to RMA

also B&W2's x-pack is as buggy as B&W2 was without the last patch

great x-pack ... i just wish they would have patched it

EDIT i had *NO issues* with patched B&W2 and my x850xt whatsoever

otoh, the UNpatched x-pack was buggy as hell with frequent crashes to desktop

black and white 2:BOTG never got a patch. the original game got 3 which i have installed. i havent tried playing the original yet will try that and get back to u. its a real shame that a card that could run the game so smoothly wouldnt be supported. as far as the card running real warm, it does do that but thats mainly the ****** coolers fault. it idles at 49~50 which is fine for me and doesnt go above 75 which is ok for the chip. what is this reboot problem ppl r talking about?

Sorry to hear aboot the troubles and glad I didn't rush to get one. Suppose I will wait for it to shake out and maybe an 8600U will appear as 'nutha option. Donut really neeed to upgrade but might be nice to when FH2 comes out.

i know

B&W2 was incredibly buggy *unpatched* ... the patches made it completely playable ... and quite a good game, i might add

since BotG is UNpatched, don't use it as a *test* or benchmark for anything

i really liked it and even played thru the X-pansion a couple of times ... despited it's horrible 'issues' [it gets really 'fun' when you *start* with a *Volcano*]

the *reboot* problem is a sudden and random "shutdown" ... ithe x1950ps with this problem will not reboot until it is *cold* ... i doubt it's your issue but here goes:
