I'm interested in upgrading my video card with this when it comes out, but i want to make sure my system won't bottleneck it before i waste my money. I currently have a BFG 6800GT OC (that's not overclocked) and it really doesn't cut the mustard anymore for the newer games. If anyone can tell me with any kind of certainty if my system can handle it I would greatly appreciate it.
My system:
Don't laugh...
HP Pavillion a566n
MB - ASUS P4SD-LA
Chipset - 865G (Socket 478)
CPU - P4 3.0ghz, 800mhz FSB
RAM - 2GB PC3200
HDD - 200 GB Ultra DMA, 7200rpm
Sound - SB Audigy 4
Thanks Much,
Big Roy

/agree [however best buy prices are typically higher than most other places]
It would actually be cheaper to upgrade my 9NDA3+ mobo/X800 Pro system to this:
K8N Neo4-F motherboard - $65.00
ASUS EAX1950PRO/HTDP/256M GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card $189.00
~$265.00 shipped.

no idea, but that's the one i want
with textures getting larger and larger, it can't hurt to have extra vRAM ... it was enough for the 9800xt to have a significant performance gain over the 9800p with the games of '05 ... the x1950p should benefit even more ...
i want as much gain as possible over my x850xt
for cheap
[why not?]
Quite a few of you are reporting having relatively powerful PSUs with low 12V output. You might want to think about getting a new PSU regardless of whether you get this card or upgrade to PCIe. It is apparent there has been a significant shift in the balance of power output towards 12V with newer models, which seems to be geared for running powerful graphics cards.Originally posted by: MegaVovaN
Here's my system:
...
480w, 18A on +12V rail Thermaltake Silent Purepower PSU (550w peak) [I love it]
