I just ordered these:

Not a bad price for 2G's...

If I can get close to the O'clock I'm running with the 1G kit that would be good but, even if I have to turn down the O'clock, 2G's will serve me better in the long run i think...

Cool , thanks for the link. I have been looking for a package like that.

Guys,
I was on another forum and remembered a post I did back in 05, it seems the content still applies today. When my new X1950 PRO arrives..and I don't get porked at the onset..one never knows about new stuff now do we..I will enjoy my last AGP ride...AGP 4X rules..heh..well it still runs anyhoo.

The proof of the puddin will be determined by the corporate profits made on the PCI-e offerings, if the profits arn't there, both companies will quickly issue AGP cards before you can blink. They want/need our money and they will get it, the question is...which company will be the first to go after the already proven AGP market, and hopefully, fire the marketing weinie that convinced them to go down the PCI-e path in such an aggressive manner in the first place. Stick to your guns people, good things come to those that wait.

What is the lesson here people; Do not let the marketeers drive your computer buying hardware or software wagon, they want to....and will always try to...they have a job as well....poor lil weinies. In this case...they were trying to tip us all off the AGP cart...WRONG...we knew...well... most of us knew... that AGP was still a viable choice for graphics. What...go out and buy a new sys because they say my AGP sys is outdated...huh...have I ever showed you my nuts...weinie. Those of us in the know, will do new...when we cannot do.. what we want to do. That's it.

it is an decent match ... especially if you can get a little O/C on it

anything over a ~P4 3Ghz is OK ... especially if you are already getting decent FPS but would like *details* and eyecandy turned up.

Hi,

New here but read the forums/reviews alot.

Two weeks ago got a HIS x1950 512MB Pro Turbo and Akasa Ultra Quiet 400W Power Supply. In addition I have a skt 754 board with 1280MB Ram and Sempron 3100+ all in Antec SLK3000B Case with Zalman CNPS7700 cooling.

So far it has been very stable and a massive upgrade from my Radeon 9600 SE. Games such as Flight Sim 2004, Age of Empires III just run with game settings all set to their highest @ 1280x1024

Absolutely great upgrade

well, just received the HIS IceQ3 from newegg.. went to check the contents and the box didn't contain a power cable (4-pin molex to 6-pin pci-e). went to check the list of contents at the egg, and found out HIS doesn't provide one! wtf?

now i have to figure out where the hell to get one locally

hope it wasn't from newegg lol, cause it won't ship today.. mine was billed/verifed by 10am and they didn't ship until 6pm the following day.. what used to be a strong point for them has turned into a weakness

and if your PS doesn't have a 6-pin pci-e power adapter, better round one up cause HIS doesn't supply one with their card. i was lucky i saved one from my XT.

on another note, the HIS is extremely quiet, and has a very solid 'feel' to it. while it's early, I've had no issues whatsoever (tho i didn't exprerience any with a visiontek either).

UNBELIWABLE: how works HIS card on 12v rail with JUST 15A on each when all manufacturers are recommending AT LIST 20A on each rail.

And you don't have any problem?

Anyone had succes with X1950PRo AGP card work lower then 18A on dual 12v rail ?

Actually, it shipped out at 2:30pm.

And I moronically included a molex-to-pcie power cable in the order, forgetting that my recently new PSU has a PCIe power cable on it already.

my *Sapphire* x1950p/512 works *fine* with exactly 18a on the 12v rail ... but i can't O/C at all [except my CPU can *keep* its O/C]

i'm not sure how that's interpreted (single/dual). here are the spec's:

+3.3v - 30a
+5v - 40a
+12v - 18a
-12v - 0.8a
-5v - 0.3a
+5vsb - 2.0a

max load - 480w continuous
peak load - 550w

Imma wait till Crysis comes out. My current card (X800Pro) does just fine in the games I play...actually I don't game anymore because there has been nothing good on the market for some time now!

Also, I think I'll want a DX10 card for Crysis...

Bulloney

try PREY ... and Fable ... and Q4 ... and DM M&M ... and Oblivion ... B&W2 ... maybe even Gothic 3

the difference between x800 and x1900 is .... is ...

well ...
forget it ... you're not gonna upgrade now, anyway

... but i do want to let you know there are some GREAT relatively new bargain bin games ...

...

and forget *waiting* for Crysis ... it'll be a YEAR before Crysis is patched to actually *resemble* a full DX10 game ... by then DX 10 cards should be in good supply and faster than first gen

and YES ... my ThermalTake 18a on the 12v rail works ... *marginally* ... as LONG as i don't STRESS it ... there is no prob

Yeah; the actual power requirements are quite low. My friend got the VisionTek XGE edition of this (OCs like a madman) and ran it on a 300W PSU with 15A. He upgraded his PSU though because of the noise it mad and he wanted one with an intake and exhaust.

Are you using the latest Catalyst drivers (7.xx)? If so, install the 6.12 drivers instead. It gets rid of the flickering screen and lets you overclock your card. I had the same problem, and the 6.12 drivers took care of it and my card is currently running 621/749.
