Considering that you won't get DirectX10 support and that your system is getting long in the tooth for more than just the GPU, I would just jump for a new rig.

who really cares about DX 10 support? there are NO games yet ... by the time the OP and & i upgrade next year ... it might be a reason.

and long in the tooth for what? Games thru 05 play perfectly ... Games of 06/07 will run OK on MY rig at 10x7 to 10x9 with a simple $150 upgrade to x1950p [- selling my x850xt] ... an addition of 1GB system RAM to 1.5GB will keep it competitive.

letsee upgrade to your system now for a small fortune [like you did] or drop $250 to keep my rig going another year.

The AGP 1950 256MB is supposed to retail @ 229.00. Thirty bucks more for the Rialto bridge.

I love my 1950Pro it's at least fifty % faster than my 6800@ ultra speeds I get 9500 in 3DM2K5 @ 630C/750M... Drivers are good too, except in Vista.

Some folks are getting 12-13 thousand in 3dmock2k5 on the Pro/GT

Altough it's not available as yet...

I'm sure others will offer a 512MB version eventually...

I'm not sure if I want to upgrade to a X1950 Pro AGP because I could sell my 6800GT and buy a cheap socket 754 mobo that has pci express for either a X1950XT/ X1950 pro or the G84/G86. This allows me to transfer that card to a cheap dual core conroe setup. I just wanta good videocard for oblivion and medium to high for future games for 6-12 months untill I buy a new cpu.

tried Gothic 3 on 1680 x 1050.. wow.. slide show!!! but it actually might look better than oblivion! then again i havnt play oblivion at this res yet

Gothic3 is still somewhat buggy and UNoptimized ... Oblivion looks and runs better ... but i do think G3 is a better game ... hoping for a new patch.

Nice. I'm looking for to this card. We just transferred computer parts into the Aluminus case he won at LAN and it runs cool. so I'm glad to hear the C-Tech OC's nicely. There are few choices for a CPU (3400,3700) upgrade, and both are higher than the cards MSRP.

I've heard that they are starting to show up "In Stock" at some of the Best Buy stores...

Check your local store for availability...

Best Buy is mad expensive. I know it's already up on their online store. Anyone know when other online stores will get them (ie NewEgg, ZZF etc)?

amd should drop the price on these to $200 and put a dent in conroe upgrades... there's a whole lot of follks out there who would buy this as a stop-gap i think (like anyone with a a64 agp system)...

How's it going, I had pre-ordered the Visiontek X1950 Pro AGP on the 20th myself when I spotted it. So, last night I was checking my order status and noticed it was actually in stock at many of the B&Ms and on Backorder for Shipping. Shocked the hell out of me. Anyway, snuck out of work this morning and was there when they opened and picked up the Visiontek Card and it's actually sitting next to my desk right now. I really can't believe it though. No reviews and No one else has it but Best Buy? They actually had 3 in-stock, now 2 at the store I went to and they weren't on display yet. I had to show the guys what to search for from their website to prove it was in stock. Then they came up with it. Not going to be able to use it till later, after work though. I posted about the availabilty of the card last night on several forums, sorry I missed you guys.

Here is a $20 off coupon for Best Buy which is good for Grapics Cards if anyone is interested. It expires on 12/2. Saw this over on another forum.

AMD/ATI have no say in the price that the card manufacturers ask for their products...

All they can do is lower the price of the actual GPU chip (which they have done) and give them an MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price)...

AMD's/ATI's MSRP BTW is $249 USD...

Until other card makers start offering their versions of this card, who-ever has them available can ask what-ever they want (and GET it) without any price competition... :frown:

Pics of the Gecube version of this card show it appears to be a single slot solution.

Would be good for shuttle systems or even micro Atx, where space is a premium.

So far I've heard of Gecube, Powercolor and Diamond releasing AGP versions, so hopefully there'll be a little competition price wise.
