X1950GT VS 7600GT

I was a day away from buying the parts for my budget gaming PC and a $30 MIR disappeared at Newegg.

I know there aren't many benchmarks for the X1950GT, but is it worth $60 more than the 7600GT?

I'm about $50 over budget... was willing to go 20 over w/ the $30 MIR. I need to know if it is still worth it. I'm getting a single PCI-E slot MB so doubling up later won't be an option.

thanks.

I agree with Tvdang. The 1950Pro is only $5 more than the 1950GT and it hangs with the 7950GT in performance.

Although, don't expect to overclock the 1950 Pro even a little bit, because those suckers are at their peak just at stock speeds. You need like a VF900 and thermal paste to even over-clock them a hair. Some people with high ambient temperatures are having trouble running 1950 Pro at stock speeds.

The 7600GT is more in the performance range of a 1650XT. The 1950GT and 1950 Pro destroy it pretty much.

id go for the 1650GT

its a 512mb card, cheaper, and would be a better single card solution since you dont have sli capabilities.

Uhmm, I have the Sapphire X1950GT that was 110$ or so after rebate. I was going to return it (it's unopened) but if you want it, I'll let you get it for how much I paid for it. The rebate and such is still valid too. Let me know.

I'm returning it because I went with 2 640MB 8800GTSs...

With that psu forget the x1900 series. I wouldn't chance it. It could handle a 7600gt or 7900gs/ 7950gt

What would be the "chance"? Could i fry the Video card, cause reboots, or just won't power the video card?

Because I would really want to get the X1950pro... the benchmarks are great. And it seems like it would keep a while with the AMD Am2 Brisbane 3600+ X2 I am buying with it

Well i was crawling some forms, and I found this:

"I went through all this just recently so hopefully I'll help you avoid the headaches I encountered. I had this PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817171001 and it wouldn't power it enough to even let me POST."

"You need at least 320w and 30amps on a single +12v rail to power it. So you'll need a 500w or higher PSU with either 30+ amps on a single +12v rail or a multi +12v rail PSU that COMBINES amperage for the +12v."

This is referring to these two cards:

HiS vs. Sapphire x1950 AGP

Does AGP draw more power, or will I run into the same problem with PCI-E... sorry for the noob power questions..

And someone responded with

I've run many an X1950 PRO with only 18A on the 12v rail, and I've not had any of them crash and burn, or perform under what I expected out of them.

I believe I posted that I have +12V@19A... isnt that better then 18A on 12v.... god I am new to power stuff

I would say that you dont have enough juice on the 12v rail.

I wouldnt trust Newegg reviews.

And i have another 350Watt PSU that isn't being used (don't know specs atm - will post when I get home)

Can I use a 430W and a 350W together? or am I stuck with getting the 7600GT?

1950GT maximum power consumption: 90W

12V-19A, is definitely enough if you don't have two many IDE/SATA drives.

Probably, but impossible to tell for sure without knowing the maximum combined load on the +12V rails.

Could fry the card or motherboard and cause reboots.
I have heard a few people get away with the 18 amp rail but how long did they get way with it? I see your getting a x2 3600.... overclocking? You must be overclocking because a 3600 would bottleneck a 1950gt/pro with out it. Its possible you'll be ok but I wouldn't chance it.

edit : Stumps and Apoppin could give you a better answer

Heres a 7800gs for 179.00$- 50.00$ rebate= 129.00$
