quite a bit better, you'll notice a good boost in pretty much everything

Make sure you have a decent power supply though, as this thing's pretty power hungry.

Thinking that "most" who still run AGP have older CPU's such as P4 or AMD X2800+ socket A types.
With "those CPU's in mind", would there really be any type of noticeable gain going from an x800 type to this?

It's not like you could use this card in your next system.

Can someone provide links to sites that tested gaming performance of a modern card like this, while still running an older CPU, that compares the results to a similar PCI-Express card with modern CPU?

That said, my system is below even that study's definition of an "old" system.

Based on the Tom's testing in prior post, it looks like a waste of money to upgrade to high end AGP cards in older systems. The strange thing was, that AXP2400+ w/9700 Pro is the exact same system spec I was thinking of upgrading (just replaced motherboard w/bad caps 6 months ago).

IF you have a P4 3.0 or better you WILL see an improvement over an x850xt, for example


and you'd need a decent OC on that AXP2400+ ...

I'm on: socket 939, agp, ddr1... even still have a parallel hard disk

Wow, that's very tempting. I've been thinking about upgrading my 9700Pro and this would work. The power issue shouldn't be a problem since I have good sized power supply...the only thing I'm worried about is CPU bottleneck (S478 2.4)
