Hi,

is there yet any hard evidence of an AGP version of the X1950Pro; that is, are any currently available for purchase?

thanks,

John

I looking for one too...

I haven't game for weeks, feel like weaning junkie

Thinks I'll wait till the end of this month, if there's nothing new that mean back to the 7600gt or 7800gs for its 256bit GDDR3

t73,

I'm sure it's coming; I guess, given the lack of response, it just means we'll have to wait longer.

Eran: How long are you planning to continue support for AGP architecture?
Raymen: AGP will be around for quite some time yet. In fact, PowerColor will be introducing AGP versions of X1650 and X1950 PRO very soon. There are still a lot of people that have systems that work perfectly fine and simply require a slight upgrade for their graphics.

UK-based Overclockers.co.uk online store is currently offering GeCube Radeon X1950 Pro AGP version for £187.99 ($350) including value added tax (VAT), meanwhile, numerous Germany-based stores offer to preorder the same board for ?218 ? ?242 ($273 - $303).

ATI Technologies said that the AGP 8x version of the Radeon X1950 Pro graphics card was designed by itself and it provided reference designs to the add-in card suppliers. The official recommended price for the part is higher compared to PCI Express version of the product.

i'm 'in' for one

what is it . . . ~50% faster than my x850xt? . . . a ~$150 upgrade [overall] . . . and i get HDR in Oblivion's Xpack.

[better than +30% and DX10 ]

it would have been expensive - in every way - to upgrade my rig to PCIe

since i am doing the 'total makeover' next Winter [late '07] . . . i only need a 'stopgap' for gaming . . . i was just going to tough it out with my x850xt as i can game down to 10x7 . . . but the x1950p should be a fine [cheap] upgrade . . .
. . . i probably also need to replace [half of my DC] 2x256MB of system RAM with 2x512 to give 1.5GB total.. . . to optimize the latest games like Gothic3.

Raymen Wu, as Powercolor Marketing and Public Relations Manager for Asian EMEA explain they will release ATI X1950 and X1650 series for AGP slot.

?AGP still will be exist in a few times. Powercolor even during near this time will launch AGP version of X1650 and X1950 PRO. There are many people with system which have been felt in adequate, which only want to add their graphical card? said Raymen.

The highest class of AGP at this time by Nvidia 7800GS with price about 250 until 300 dollar us. ATI X1950 Pro should be more quickly from Nvidia 7800GS but price for this AGP version still not known. ATI X1950 Pro estimated will success referring to graphic card performance obsolence of existing AGP at this time.

This is some nice engrish

apoppin, I have heard that theres some problems with 1.5 gig if you run WinXP, maybe something to do with 128 multiplication.
In addition, since you have four dice to make a gig, your DC (which more noticeable on Intel CPU) should work fine but not on 1.5G configuration. That makes your UG option one- 2*1g and selling the 4*256 to cover some of the cost.
I have a 2*256 in my rig, at the moment, thought to upgrade to a 1G kit or a 2G. A 2G pc3200 kit sells on ebay around 200$.

Sorry for the off-topic

AFAIK . . . no problem with win2k and 1.5 GB

my Abit ic7/P4 DC rig allows for 2x256 in DC and 2x512MB in the other

i could also sell all my 4x256 and replace them with 4x512
[i don't have to go for the very expensive 2x1GB]

correct?

thanks for the PM, t73

no i am not absolutely *sure* . . . perhaps someone knows

Well my friend is going to most likely be buying my game machine for 500 bucks. This means I can upgrade to a core duo 6600 rig with the 8800GTS for about ~1000 bucks.

I am going to take the opportunity to do so. For 1K I cant go wrong considering this thing will probably last me another 24-32 months like my last machine did.

Power Color works on X1950 AGP
The Radeon X1950 PRO 256MB AGP is clocked at 600MHz core speed and 1400MHz GDDR3, 256 bit memory. It has dual DVI ports and a HDTV interface. The card uses an AGP 8X bus and has 36 Shader units. Just like its PCIe brother it uses Arctic cooling massive fan and as a matter of fact it is clocked the same. You can read about the PCIe card here.

It will sell for around $249 and be available in retail and etail in four weeks. You can learn more about this card here and it's good to know that Avivo has finally arrived AGP, and uses the new R5x0 generation of GPU. It should be the fastest ATI gaming AGP card to date.

i heard about your 9800p

RIP

. . . and . . . how much faster is the x1950p than my x850xt?

i'm guessing like +30-40% more performance with the added features of the new series . . .

about right?

Sorry to continue the OT, but I had to put in my experience with this. I have 1.5g of ram right now in my gaming machine and I've not had a single problem. I have 2x512 Corsair Value and 2x256 of some off brand. The timings are even different between the two pairs of sticks and I still have no troubles at all.

what's your rig?

mine's an o/c'd P4

right now i am running slightly mismatched pairs of 2x256 in DC . . . the RAM with the slightly faster timings just slows to the slower one . ..

should be no problem to replace 2x256 with 2x512

[which is a heck of a lot cheaper than 2x1GB]

Wich one you preffer: higher memory( 512mb-VISIONTECH) or better cooling but with
256 mb memory?
Or we can buy 512 mb card with regular cooler and replace it with ACx2
cooler for $20, will be cheaper and stronger. What do you think?

Will DirectX 9 card run DirectX10 compactible games? If not then thise
card will be waste of money because from 2007 all games(80%) will be
DirectX10 compactible.
